Making myself a priority is incomprehensible!

I have no real information or experience in making myself a priority. It has just never happened before. I have been able to lose 20kg putting my family and contributing as a priority, but now, I have to continue with the next 22kgs for myself.
It's weird. I really have no experience to lean on that shows me how.
Looks like a new adventure is ahead!

If you have trouble convincing yourself that you should be able to focus on your health for 'selfish' reasons, remember that the fitter and stronger you can be, the more you can care for and support your family.0

it's the key to your success..its just gotta be about you for once.0

I know what you mean. I changed my nutrition (drastically, some would say insane) and made finding time to workout a priority. All of this had an effect on my girlfriend and son but it has to be done. As a guy who's cheated death a couple times I know that if I don't do a 180 I'm not going to be around for them. That makes it easier.0

You will never be your priority if you have children. It just isn't the way the world is, but that doesn't mean neglecting yourself. Take the time to get out of the house and do some exercise, even if it's only once or twice a week. You will feel better for it, and have more patience with other people. Eating well benefits everyone, not just you. Don't buy the junk, only buy real food, that way if you are hungry you have to think about it and cook, not just shovel in whatever is on hand. You don't have to be selfish to be fit and healthy.0

It was a mental leap for me to accept that making being healthy a top priority wasn't inherently selfish. Especially when I changed the grocery list, dinner menu, the household routine etc. Then I started thinking about the alternative however - my being chronically ill because I hadn't taken care of myself, I realized that NOT making my health a priority would eventually make one of my family members sacrifice their own time and energy to take care of me - totally selfish of me if I can prevent it by doing better myself now.
Sometimes, you have to step back and look at the big picture.0 -
Wow! Thank you for the support and encouragement. I suddenly don't feel alone about this now. Thank You all0
