I have always been scared to eat more even when people say that it will break a plateau. I was afraid that I would start gaining. But after four weeks of being at a plateau I decided to try it. I mean what could happen anyway. I was already playing with the same 2 or 3 pounds and had been for quite a while. So I upped my calories from 1300 to 1550. (By the way, the 1300 was what MFP said I should be eating. I wasnt eating my exercise calories back because there is no way that I could eat an extra 750 to 1000 calories per day) After 4 days I lost the 3 I had been holding back and forth. On the 5th day lost 2 more and on the 6th day lost another 1 and 1/2 pounds. I would say that 6 and 1./2 pounds was definitely worth it. I have learned that even though I cant eat them all I need to eat some of them. DONT BE SCARED JUST GIVE IT A TRY.

Best wishes on your journey

agreed! I have been losing steadily and then lost one pound in two weeks. I upped my calories to about 200 more and 4 came off in one week. weird.

I was SO needing to read this! I've increased my calorie goal a couple of days ago and I'm not completely confortable with it. Hope it works :)

    Thanks for posting!

I'm so happy for you!! I feel like a lot of people have been making this discovery today. There is a reason we're supposed to eat back our exercise calories and not starve ourselves :D I'm thrilled you figured this out! Congrats on the loss, and keep up the great work!

I looove to eat.. I've never been afraid to eat. If I want to lean down, I just work harder. My "dieting" friends can't get starving themselves out of their heads.. they equate less calories with less body weight and don't understand how I eat what I want and am smaller than all of them. This is what I tell them: Dieters aren't skinny. Athletes are skinny. I feed my body fuel. Constantly. But I work like a farm horse too. I am small and curvy and muscular and strong. They see me standing right in front of them, they witness my lifestyle and hear my story, but are still afraid to eat more to achieve what I've got. And it's not my natural metabolism, either. I've been a big girl at times. Those were times that I wasn't able to work.. and no amount of starving helped that situation at all.. ever.

Hmmm, and I was just thinking about lowering my calories to 1200. Sometimes I do eat my exercise calories.
