Hi all

I plan to get the kids to bed early...it's been a cold rainy day and I'm in the mood to rent a GOOD flick
Any ideas...could be old/new
I've been trying to get slumdog but no good
The last movie I rented was MILK

Were those all filmed in the 50's?

    I love chick flicks so:

50 first dates - barrymore and sandler - funny romantic
Hope Floats - Bullock and Connick Jr - crying movie
Riding in cars with boys - barrymore - my fav movie ever!

I just watched "Doubt" and it was stunning. The acting and filmography was some of the best. The story was compelling and relevant. If you want funny and mindless then "Don't Mess with the Zohan" is fab. Or "Superbad".

My all time favorite movies are much older. "Harvey", "Bell, Book and Candle", "Sabrina"...and like 50 more including Hitchcock.

    Superbad was FUNNY!!!
For comedy, can't go wrong with Dodgeball, wedding crashers or any Kevin Smith movie

(yes, my taste in movies runs to the rather ridiculous....:blushing: )

If you don't mind reading subtitles (or if you speak French) Amalie is one of my FAVORITES!!! I always feel happy after seeing it :flowerforyou:

Thanks everyone for the recs...I'll let you know what I decide on
BTW, Amelia (sp?) is one of my all time favs!!

I'm not really a pet/dog lover (don't flame me) so I think I'll pass on Marley and Me...

The wife and I just finished "Australia." I openly admit to being in LOVE with Nicole Kidman, and watched this not knowing what to expect, and enjoyed it. A bit long, but a good flick.

"I Love You, Man" was hilarious - saw it last night (but that requires babysitter).

Have you seen "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" - also a good one to rent.

One you might not think to rent is "Shut Up and Sing" - the Dixie Chicks documentary - I had no knowledge (or VERY little knowledge) of them or country music before renting it, and I LOVED it! I've rented it about three times. The parts about the girls dealing with fertility issues is just heart wrenching.
