I was listening to "Help" this morning and wondered...
"how popular would this be now?"
Also what about the Rolling Stones, and all that other great old stuff.

if it wasnt for the beatles and the stones music wouldnt be where it is today. then again, i dont listen much to modern music i listen to all those bands from the 50s, 60s, and 70s more than whats out today. i have a massive record collection and im know to crank up the tunes on my turn table0

i think you have answered your own question
"great old stuff"0 -
nope, it's fantastic music but would not be successful now0

There would be too much auto-tune on the tracks to really be able to tell them apart from other bands.
Folks would claim it wasn't as good as the old stuff and that all they were doing was copying (badly) music from back then.0 -

I was listening to "help" on the way to work. And I love the song, love all of that old music. But I think some of the Beatles music would be lost today.0 -

honestly, I think some of it is a little too happy and encouraging LOL....Music with a good message and or a cheery spirit, just isn't popular these days.0 -
Kind of impossible to guess because pop/rock music has been a progression over the last 50-60 years.
Would their songs from the 60s be popular now if recorded exactly as they were then?
Probably not but the point is they would not be recorded exactly as they were then.
What kind of music would have filled the void left by removing their music from the 60s and how would that have changed things?
No way to know but talent such as theirs would likely find a place in the music world of 2011 whatever it may sound like.0 -
I think so because we just wouldn't have had good music until now. They were pioneers and changed music forever. I think we can credit them with being the best most talented musicians EVERRRRRRRR!!!!0

Good music isn't marketable today. If you're not rapping about tying your girlfriend to a bed and setting her on fire, singing about being raped by aliens, or screeching about being a redneck woman, you're not getting airtime on the radio.0

There are artists who create good music today.
And there were artists back in the day who sang about horrible stuff as well.0 -

I like the Beatles, but I think they (along with the Rolling Stones) are also a bit overrated.0

Yeah, but it was the "mind altering substances" talking really...0
