Turermic v Turemic Root?

A Massage therapist recently suggested I take tumermic supplements to help with inflammation (I may be spelling it wrong, but its also a spice).
Well I went to Whole Foods and the Tumeric Supplement was about $30 for a bottle! I searched around and also found Tumeric Root for $11 or so. So my questions are:
1. Has anyone ever tried either?
2. Which one should I try, or does it even matter
Thanks!

Great question.
Tumeric is excellent.
What I do is use it in my food and get the ground up Whole Foods brand in the spice isle. I think it runs about $4-$5 a bottle which is less than the other options.
I have not experimented with the fresh root in the produce deparment yet. I have seen it many times and wondered how I would work with it.
I put the ground up spice in soups, my egg whites, beans. Stuff like that.

You can buy tumeric at Walmart. It comes in a capsule form. You should google it. You will find Tumeric is very beneficial to your body. I take some every day.0
