"I'll get to go to bed whenever I want"--- yes, but you still have to get up in the morning and work. Usually this awesome "staying up late" is to your detriment

"I can eat ice cream ANY TIME"---those calories that meant nothing as a child, all the sudden a big deal!

"I'll be able to wear WHATEVER I WANT"-- even as an adult a tutu, jeans, turleneck, vest and viking hat is looked down upon.

    Do what I want, when I want. <---yeah, time demands kind of limit what you can do. money as well.

    I can be promiscuous, sexy, and own my body. <--I CAN but I don't find it fun or necessary to be a skank. LOL. I guess when you're 16 you want the attention. LOL

    I can get my own car - Cars suck, take all of your money and you can't afford to drive them anywhere anyway

    I can do what I want - not if I want to keep my job which gives me just enough money to let my kids do some of what they want

    No one can tell me what to do - yes they can, and the consequences of not doing what I'm told as an adult are much worse than time out or grounding from the phone

    "I'll make all the rules!!!" somehow turns into "with one or two tiny modifications, they're the same as mom's." but you don't REALIZE that until someone comes over who has kids. it's a vicious cycle.

    I'll color my hair whatever color I want!

    It's been blue, pink, blonde, purple, red, and now...ironically...back to it's original color. My gracious mother has refrained from saying, "I told you so..."

    NB I ended up with 4 daughters, 3 of which a re triplets.

    I never really thought about it because I did a lot of these anyway.

    I didn't have a bed time and ate whatever I wanted. The closest I got to not being able to eat something was "that is for your grandfather" so I'd just ask him and I could have it anyway! :D

    My mom told me your kids will always be worse than you were so I'm not having any, no need to worry about setting rules for them.

    Until you realize JUST how much of your meager paycheck you're spending on clothes and start buying off the clearance rack or at stores like Target and Wal-mart.

    Ouch! We bought our son his first tattoo but that was our one sticking point... it had to be somewhere he can cover it with shorts or short sleeves. He may end up with a career where it doesn't matter, but there's no reason to limit himself when he's still in his early 20s.

    i'm doing that now and i really can't complain. my rules look virtually nothing like my parents' rules. my truck is expensive to drive, but i absolutely love it. my job eats my time, but it's amazing experience and it affords me a SWEET place to live, awesome toys, and tons of opportunities.

    oh and my place? fantastic. seriously. never thought i'd live this good. just always wanted to.

    You are sadly mistaken. Tattoos are far more accepted in today's business world. That being said...WHAT your tattoos are of could pose an issue.

    I remember being a kid and thinking that my parents and siblings were SO ANNOYING. I would dream about being an adult and basically having my own life and not having their interference in everything.

    Yup, now I live a stone's throw from one of my brothers and from my sister, and I appreciate seeing my parents on a somewhat regular basis.

    Um yeah, first you have to have a house with a big enough yard, then spend upwards of six figures putting it in, then buying all the appropriate pool furniture and requisite fence, then all the time and money put into maintaining it...

    Also "I can go wherever I want!" (really means I can go wherever i want as long as I have the vaca days at work, $$ for gas etc)

    "I can be friends with whoever I want!" (True, although most of the people I was told NOT to befriend when I was younger was for the best.. I just didnt see it then)
