I'll turn 30.
Acccckkk!! (for those of you who are over 30, dont yell at me.. you probably had a hard time with it too..)..
In February, i decided I was gonna turn 30, in "the best physical shape ever". And today I realized that's 7 weeks away, and I need to go into beastmode. (ha).
I'm about 132, 5'5, and its not a certain weight I'm going for. I know the usual, eat my right amount of calories, cardio, strength training, but here's what i'm looking for input on:
Eliptical intervals - any of u have a link to ones that have worked for you? I've found a lot of treadmill stuff, but I have severe attention span issues.. treadmill is a dangerous place for me.
I dont need to lose a lot of weight, I want to lose body fat and cotinue to tone up. What works for you guys?
I know my diet is most of my problem.. I have more cheat days than diet days. (haha..) I dont like veggies. (gasp!) seriously.. I cant eat salads all day, lettuce tastes like wet paper. Thats never gonna change, I've tried.
What works for ya'll, simple, tried, to get trimmed down?
Thanks in advance.

You basically answered your own question. When i want to slim down I focus on my diet. I reduce all processed food, try to limit carbs at night, and make sure to eat different varieties of veggies. Clean foods, even above calorie counting, is what slims me down.0

when i turned 40 i had a hard time and everyone here at work told me---40 is no big deal---i said well yeah---i wouldnt imagine it would be to people that are several years past it. LOL good luck on your weight loss.0

Thanks! I'll look into "clean foods". I think everything I eat is processed.0

haha!! I know!! Everytime I whine about it someone gets offended. I whine a lot. I'm not ready for 30.. I still feel 23.0

I smiled when I read your humorous message of how turning 30 is hard for you. I'm 55 and have to say, honestly, that turning 30 was harder than any other milestone year I passed. Maybe it's because turning 30 signals the passage into "adulthood" and all that entails. Anyway, you'll do fine since you obviously have a great sense of humor about that and all things. : )
As for losing weight and toning, logging, logging and logging is what worked for me (that and regular exercise on my stationary recumbent bike and Wii Fit Plus). I am SO thankful for MFP!0 -
Hitting 30 certainly wasn't easy for me (I'm 35 now....EEEEEK!), but the great thing about it is I don't look it and certainly don't feel it. Its only a number! As long as you are healthy, feel your best (which you it appears you look pretty fantastic!), and love yourself for who you are, then its just a number. Who cares!0

Honestly, you should get the Insanity program... hit intensity interval training. If you follow the 60 day program and eat healthy.. your will have a much more firm & toned appearance. I completed it, lost 12lbs in 2 months... and my stomach is MUCH more firm!0

Thanks. Yeah I gotta stay consistent with MFP too.0 -
Happy early birthday. I made certain to be really busy on my milestone birthdays so the actual day didn't freak me out but I know what you mean (I'm 48 and still feel like I'm 23!)
To do that last gasp toning, cut back on processed foods, limit your sodium (my personal nemesis), cut back on starchy carbs, for veggies, try the sneak attack. Sneak them into foods you are going to eat anyway or look for different ways to cook them. I love roasted cauliflower and can seriously eat an entire head to myself (my family does NOT love that!), I throw tons of fruit in my salads with some protein like cheese (high in sodium though) and grilled meat-makes it less rabbit like. Ramp up your cardio workouts with intervals. Look into the Body for life intervals or HIIT training. Modify what you've seen for treadmills to elliptical. Change up your workouts. If you do the elliptical most of the time, do the stairmaster or arc-trainer. Do some classes (spinning is a huge calorie burner and a good zumba teacher can kick your butt while you're having fun-don't worry about the coordination thing!).
Good luck!0 -

I WISH I could do an at home program, but i get home and my motivation says peace out. For me, the only thing that works is actually going to the gym, because once i drag myself through the doors, I have to stay and work out, or be the dork that walked in and did nothing for 4 minutes. haha..
I've tried Beach Body stuff, P90X and even that.. Carmen Electra hooker workout thing. I just cant' seem to do any of those things consistently, it's too easy for me to find something more fun to do.
Maybe when I hit 30 that will change.0 -
