ok so im new to making healthy choices, and im honestly new to eating vegetables, i hated them growing up and i actually find now that i like them, or some of them, but i have come across a strange realization and feelings when i eat vegetables, i know its all in my head, but somehow i yearn to eat more meat, this will sound rediculous but when i eat vegetables i feel like a failure as if im not fulfilling my manly duty of killing stuff and eating it, i have been trying to reduce my meat to 3-4oz of a lean meat, chicken, fish, or turkey, and a serving of vegetables for my meals, i dont like many veggies raw, i steam them usually, i guess im just wondering if anyone felt this way or if ya got any tips on eating more vegetables.

edit: oh and i never feel full when i eat veggies, i can eat a whole freakin bag of salad, spinach, green beans, corn, carrots... w/e it is u name it, it just doesnt fill me up, maybe thats another psycho thing too.

I like roasting veggies. Red pepper, mushrooms, asparagus, tomatoes, brussel sprouts, pretty much anything. Drizzle with a little olive oil and seasoning of choice and roast in the oven. I find it completely changes the taste of a lot of veggies.

make a big ol salad and put your selected meat on top

roasting veggies is also very, very good. I roast brussel sprouts in my blog: http://bonafidepotluck.blogspot.com/2011/10/roasted-brussel-sprouts.html try them with that meat! mmmm

you could roast just about any veggie that way

I eat veggies until my heart is content... except for peas, corn, and potatoes because those are more starchy and caloric. ( I still have them just not in the quantities that I eat all other veggies). Also, make a goal to try one new veggie a week... pick something from the produce section you're not too familiar with and you may find all kinds of new things that you like. Another good one is spaghetti squash in place of noodles or in addition to a noodle type dish... it bulks up the meal and takes on the flavor of whatever you're eating. A good trick in volumizing without adding too many calories.

Just a guess since I'm female but as a guy I think you need more protein. Veggies are great and I've learned to love many of them but there is just something about meat that satisfies. Try upping your meat a bit, if you're eating lean ones like chicken and fish you should be able to increase the amount you're eating without adding a massive amount of calories. Also make sure you get some good red meat in there at least once a week.

I hear you on the "I should be eating meat with this" when I eat vegetables. Growing up, my mom was really good at making meals that included a protein (meat), a vegetable, and a starch (it was usually potatoes, which is why I say starch instead of carb, lol).

So when I eat vegetables, especially cooked, I feel like I should have some chicken and boiled potatoes with them, lol. I am getting better though. It will take some time and practice, but you'll eventually get over your mental hangups about it, as long as you keep pushing yourself to make the healthy choices.

Alternatively, you could just have a larger serving of veggies with your dinner that includes meat, so you feel satisfied and full, instead of having random veggies alone during the day.

Hey, eating meat and vegetables cooked in fat is where its at!!!

Meat, fat and veggies can be eaten until you are full and satisfied, but not stuffed and is very healthy.
