WHY OH WHY?!?!?! I'm so HUNGRY!

Ok, so today I switched up my workout schedule and I worked out at 5am...yes I know I'm crazy but it clears up my afternoons with my boys (single mom in da house)! I usually workout around 8pm...after my hectic schedule kinda dies down...so I'll be trying to workout in the mornings from now on...
I am usually able to control my hunger, but I am freaking STARVING today. I have increased my snacks and am making healthy choices AND CHUGGING WATER, but for some reason I'm already ready to eat lunch and it's barely 11:30....
I have also increased my weights (doing ChaLean Extreme - Push Phase) - so that might also add to it...does this happen to anyone else? Should I just have a very light dinner (shake) and eat my bigger meals throughout the day?

It might be easier to assess why you're feeing hungry if you give us an idea of exactly what you are eating? I do my workout in the early morning (5:30 until 8:30), and then have my biggest meal of the day after that, so that I'm full until lunch.
It might be that you are eating too small/not nutritious enough of a breakfast? Rearranging your caloric intake might help-- I can definitely make some suggestions if you post what a typical day looks like for you!0 -
It could be your leptin hormone levels! Eat more protein!0

What are you eating before/after your workout? Getting in a good solid meal with a good amount of protein may help you through the rest of the day.0

My trainer stresses to me that breakfast should be the biggest meal of the day (I can't do it!). If you're burning in the morning, now- you may try to eat more protein/fiber right after you exercise- may stick with you longer.0

Hmm, well it makes sense that you want lunch earlier, since you woke up earlier. Maybe try eating a heavier/bigger breakfast?0

I got hungry early and attributed it to the time change.0

We just changed the clocks for daylight savings time. Your body still thinks it's an hour later than the clock currently says.0

If you are getting up at 5, I assume you are eating breakfast after your workout, around 630 or so? If that is the case then 1130 is 5 hours later! That totally makes sence for your body to be hungry. Earlier breakfast usualy means earlier lunch....0

I agree with the time change explanation.. Happening to me too! going to be a long day to stretch out the calories.0

Its kinda hard to answer without knowing what you are eating.
Also, are you up earlier than you normally are? I work 12 hour shifts and have to get up at 530am, that makes lunch a lot sooner than noon. If you have a scheduled lunch hour, re-arrange your food to keep you fuller until lunch time.0 -
Before anyone can actually make a good recommendation, how many calories are you eating? Do you eat back exercise calories? But generally, if you are hungry, it's your body's signal to eat more.0

you need to fuel workouts, so if you just started Chalean you need to up your calories, especially if you are trying to do that really dumb 1200 calorie stuff. you should be eating somewhere between 1600-1800 a day, with over 100g of protein a day.0

I've been reading about the importance of eating and timing. I would recommend a light breakfast with fruits and warm tea and this is because the body is stil in the "elimination" phase in the morning (before 10 am) and your digestive system is not quite strong enough for you to handle a hefty, hearty, heavy breakfast. Make lunch your largest, warmest, nutrition-packed, heartiest meal of the day. Give yourself a good hour to sit and enjoy your lunch, and take your time so your body can digest it well. Make dinner super light. "Supper" is "Supplemental" meaning you can either skip it if you're not hungry then, or make it light with a light salad, or a warm soup and a slice of whole grain bread or something. The reason the big lunch method works is because high noon is when your metabolism is at its peak and this is the best time to stock up on energy for the long day ahead. I've been trying this method, and I feel more energetic, I am shedding pounds faster, and I dont feel hungry or crave sugars during the day.
I also read in a magazine recently, that oftentimes the body confuses dehyradation with hunger or cravings. Try sipping warm water throughout the day, and see if this helps with curbing the cravings. It's definitely working for me, and I no longer need the afternoon "snack break" to get me through the afternoon.
Otherwise, I wish you all the best, and hope you get to your goal soon! Keep up the good work!0 -
A friend of mine is doing that program also and experienced the exact same thing. Try increasing your protein intake and are you following the nutrition plan that came with the program?0

BTW, I did two rounds of chalean extreme and I was eating 2600-3000 calories a day. If you want to lose weight, build muscle, you have to fuel the fire.0
