    I (personally) abide by the "If you can't say something nice" rule. I realize not everyone else lives by this rule and weigh their comments accordingly. Are people being mean to be jerks or am I not liking the comment because it's TRUE and hitting a bit to close to home for comfort.

    If it's the latter, the onus is on me to THANK the commentor for taking the time to provide me with valuable information that I didn't want. to acknowledge. if it's the former, I just shrug it off as someone who is uncomfortable with someone else tackling the same flaws they have determined are insurmountable (in other words, they don't like me proving they are wrong and the barb hits too close to home for them)

    So yea, MFP is really, what you make of it. Choose your attitude and protect it with the ferocity that you would protect your children!

    I agree with this. To be fair, there is a gestapo like moderation trend that has taken hold of MFP which has really hurt it's popularity with some people. However that moderator step up has been slightly necessary.

    there are some really jerky people here.
    Losing weight works differently for everyone. But I constantly see people knocking down people just because they aren't doing things their way.
