Going To The Grocery Store...

Options
I'm going to the grocery store tonight and I'm wondering, what do you get when you go shopping that helps you stay within your calories every day? What's a mandatory item(s) you buy when you go?

You can, but it's processed, lost half its strength, and the additives will add 5 pounds a week...you can't find it fresh.

I hit the produce aisle and pick up lots of fresh veggies for salads and cooking. I also buy frozen broccoli and stir fry veggies. Greek yogurt. String cheese. Eggs. 1% milk. Canned tuna. Chicken breasts. 90% lean hamburger. Carb balance tortillas.

    Kelloggs Fiber bars
    Corn Tortillas
    Oatmeal
Lots of fruit ( any kind really, bananas, apples, grapes etc)

Those are the main things I like to have on hand all the time because I use them for so much, or I snack on them a lot.

I have my meal plans all planned out and try to stick to my list. I do have a teenager at home, so I buy him some 'frozen' stuff so he can have an after school snack, or his dinner since he works before I get home.

Brown rice, dried beans, fresh vegetables (carrots, onions, mushrooms, kale, collard greens, brussel sprouts are those in my 'most used' list), wine, soy milk, fish (whatever is reasonably priced this week), Kashi TLC bars, Seapoint Farms dry roasted edamame, almonds and peanut butter. And EVOO, if I'm running low but I buy by the gallon.

Acorn Squash - love to serve it scooped out and mashed with a bit of spagetti sauce and some parmasan cheese
Carotts, cauliflower, chick peas - roast with garlic pepper, a dash of olive oil, and chipolte
Apples - peel, slice, add cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, sweetener, toss and cook in microwave for guilt-free apple pie
Grapefruit - squeeze and mix with water to sip unsweetened mixture to hydrate and control cravings

I do not buy bread, crackers, chips, ice cream, cookies...... because willpower is something I'd rather not test today. And no matter how much I exercise, when I eat these things I am totally unable to budge that scale.
