I am wearing a hrm and it beeps at me if I go over 155 or under 117. I keep my hr between that but more on the high end. I thought it was good to get your hr up, do you burn more calories when its higher?

  • Target heart rate zones are different based on your goals. For weight loss you want to stay in the lower range 60%-70% (It's been awhile so someone correct me if my ranges are off). From the numbers you gave, it sounds like your HRM is set to keep you in a 50-75% range and it beeps if you leave that range, which is normal for a HRM. I suggest opening the owners manual and learning how to set it for your specific needs.

See if you can turn off the beeps. That sounds annoying.

I agree with the above poster that the device is probably trying to enforce the "fat-burn zone", but it's silly to constrain yourself into that zone. Feel free to go faster. You will burn more calories and yes, more fat.
