Does anyone have any healthy alternatives to brown rice for a side? We are eating alot of chicken with brown rice lately and would like another choice to mix it up.

I swear by frozen vegetables. Easy to microwave and less sodium than canned.0

I love black eyed peas with spicy diced tomatos (like Rotel). It's only around 75 calories for a 1/2 cup of the beans0

i make awesome roasted veggies! i use organic potatoes, yellow and green bell peppers, onions, garlic, broccoli, tomato, and some pictsweet frozen mixed veggies. i use a tsp of butter to 2 cups of veggies (precooked). then i season with a small amount of seasoned salt, thyme, oregano, parsley, paprika and original no salt mrs dash! cook on a cookie sheet and add water often so they dont dry out. they cook for at least a half an hour and they r amaze!0

definitely roast some veggies!! roasting makes everything awesome.
try cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, peppers, potatoes...
toss with a teensy bit of olive oil to coat and sprinkle with seasonings, roast at like 375 til they're soft and a little browned on the bottom!0 -
We're big salad fans. (endless choices).
Try making a salad with chicken in it. Even though you may use the same ingredients from a previous night's dinner, it just seems so different (than chicken with salad on the side).0 -
Egg noodles with steamed or grilled veggies..mmm0

This time of year you can get winter squash. Cut it in half, remove seeds and microwave or bake until soft- then season to taste.
Tonight I put pumpkin pie spice on mine. YUMMY
Brussel Sprouts sauted in olive oil is a favorite0 -
Any type of veggie works as a side item.
Brown rice is a thousand times more interesting when you mix stuff in it, like broth, spices, more veggies.... yum!
I know that sometimes potatoes get a bad rap, but as long as they aren't fried, they can still be healthy.0 -
Roasted vegetables like broccoli, brussel sprouts, or even kale are great. Toss the broccoli with garlic and olive oil, bake for 15 at 350 until some bits are brown, then toss with more oil, lemon, and Parmesan. It's amazing. Kale can be tossed in oil and vinegar or salt and baked similarly until crisp to make a great potato chip replacement.
Or cook green beans with garlic. Or salad. There's a dressing out there for everyone.0 -
what about bulger??? super easy to make, nutty. hot or cold. good to toss with celery, onions, cranberries, whatever.0
