Hi!

I've been on Barry's Bootcamp for a while now, but I was wondering if there are others out there who've given this a try and what they think?

I feel like I'm getting results. I feel like I've lost inches. But I want to get stronger! So I can do all the advanced stuff.

Care to join me?

    Hi!

    This is Barry's Bootcamp http://barrysbootcamp.com/

It's a multiple DVD set with a transformer (an elongated medicine ball) and resistance bands. It's pretty awesome and good for beginner to intermediate exercisers. Barry is celebrity trainer who has his own gym in Hollywood - and supposedly really good.

I got my a couple of weeks ago and have been doing it ever since, albeit infrequently. I'm started over today and want to see if I can keep it up for 30 days. Was hoping to find a buddy.

There are more reviews on Amazon that you might want to check out.

I bought Barry's Bootcamp set about a year ago... maybe? It's been awhile I know that. I used one of the DVDs once and just about died. Haven't used them since. Even though it's like 60 second intervals, it was still too much! Hehe. I was going to break them out today (and blow up my ball again) and start using them. I need to change up my routine because I'm getting a little bored and not seeing the results I'd like with my current routine.

Maybe we can keep each other on track? Give me a hollar if you want to buddy up!

    Hey ShutterBug! HOLLA!

Oh yes yes please be my buddy. It is a pretty intense workout. I still do a lot of the things modified, but I can feel myself getting strong enough to do some exercises all the way and only some modified. I love Barry and Cindy! :)

Right now I usually do Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred and Code Red in the morning. Then at night I do a Fat Blaster plus abs, legs, arms. I'm still doing all beginner. I've yet to try out any of the advanced moves.

The Code Red is really kinda hard core, but I have this huge event on May 1 and I need to do everything I can do lose more inches. :)

I'm sure you'll be able to manage it because I could barely get through a fat blaster when I started and now I breeze through em... Well, not breeze, but at least I'm not like dead anymore at the end of a cd. Haha!

    Keep in touch!
  • HOLLA Back!

It is a bit intense to start with, but I did it again the other day (just the upper body) and it wasn't as bad as my first time. I was still sweating and breathing pretty heavy, but I didn't have to stop every 2 minutes. It's still amazing that a minute seems a lot longer than 60 seconds though. Hehe.

The one move I couldn't really do was where you sit on the ball and move out and work the back of your arms. I couldn't even do the modified version using the floor. My arms and *kitten* just can't seem to work together. I did the modified, but not as well as I probably should have. Can make it a goal I guess.

I haven't even looked at the Code Red part. Still too advanced for me. Small steps.

I'm working on putting together a schedule so I know what I'm going to do on what days. I find that helps me out.

We'll keep each other going. When should we check in? Mondays?

    Mondays sounds good!

I can barely do the tricep dip thing too! And the one where you're lying on the floor with your feet on the transformer and you lift your butt and roll the thing back and forth. It kills my hamstrings every time. I think my *kitten* too phat for that kinda thing for now. But I'm working up to it.

And yes... 60 seconds takes forever. But I think the point is to keep doing them.

I had to take a couple of days of because I pulled a muscle. But I'm back on today.

Let me know what your sked looks like so we can compare notes. This week, I think I'm going to alternate the fat blasters and add on at least two beginner mission specialists per day. I'm off code red this week but I'll start up again next week. :) And I haven't really strict with my diet yet. I'm doing it slow. I started with the exercise. And I'm laying off Coca-Cola and chocolate. But this week, I think I'm going to cut down on my carbs and make sure I eat breakfast.

I hope to lose 50lbs by September. What's your goal??

    Keep in touch!

    Hey!

Just checking in: How has Barry been treating you. I have to admit that I've been mixing it up this week and not doing as much Barry as I'd like. I think this week I'm going Barry a bit more.

I didn't work out this morning, but tonight I think I want to do BBC Red, arms, abs and legs. I'm still doing the beginner levels. Maybe I'll advanced arms though. Plus some hip hop abs with Shaun T! :)

    How about you?
  • What's up girlie?!

Chek-in time. I too haven't been completely dedicated to Barry this week. I only did the work-out three times. One lower body, then upper and then the ab workout. Yesterday I took my Trikke down a bike path near me and I completely forgot my new HRM! After taking the Trikke out of the car I didn't want to drive back to the house to get it. So I don't know how many calories I burned. Bummer. Next time though!

You have Shaun T too? I lurve him! (sigh) He always makes me want to keep going. I have to say that Barry... not so much... maybe because Shaun is hotter and I kind of like the dance-like moves better. I like the hips, buns and thighs dvd of Shaun's. It always kills my *kitten* though!

I bought Jillian's 30 Day Shred this weekend. It was on sale at Target. Couldn't pass it up. I watched a few minutes of level 1. Looks fun and Jillian rocks! You own it, do you enjoy it? Seen results from it? I'm going to do level 1 tomorrow with my HRM to see how many cals I can burn. Then I'll get on my elliptical for 30 mins. Burn those calories, burn them! I think I saw a recent post about the Biggest Loser Cardio Max (or something) being really good and kicking your butt too.

    Hey GIrl!

I'm so sorry I've been so negligent! I've been crazy busy lately. But I just wanted to say Hi.

I've actually started doing P90X this week. WOOHOO. But I on strength days I feel like I need more cardio so I sometimes do some Barry in between. I've done Barry only 3 times this week. But I think it's all good. I definitely feel stronger. I haven't lost much, but my clothes are looser and people keep telling me that I look like I've lost weight - but I think I'm just more compact/toned now. :)

I haven't been doing Shaun T but I think I want to alternate him for my cardio because he's waaaaay more fun.

How are you doing with Jillian? She's like hardcore too! I'm level 3 of her 30 day shred. I like that when I'm in a rush and I want to really sweat in 20minutes. :) Hope you're doing great!

And I hope you're counting calories. It will be cool to see how many calories you burn versus the different videos. :)
  • Hey Girlie! Don't feel bad, I haven't caught up with you either. Things have been crazy busy with work and life. My Grandma (mom's mom) is getting worse health wise. And it doesn't look like it will be long before she passes away.

Anyway, I haven't really done BBC as much as I should being that we were supposed to do it together. LoL. Maybe his way of working out just isn't my thing? Who knows. For some reason I just don't get as excited about working out with Barry's Bootcamp as I do working out to one of my other DVDs.

I do know that I'm really loving Jillian though! I now have three of her DVDs. I have the 30 day shred (should move up to level 2 now), the banish fat, boost metabolism and her no more trouble zones. I just did the no more trouble zones yesterday and my body is still hurting! There was one move that I just can't quite do just yet. It's called "surrender". You have weights in your hands straight above your head. Then you squat down, place one knee on the ground, then the other. Then stand back up. Keeping your hands above your head the whole time. Yeah. A bit too hard for me. I could get down on my knees but I'd have to use them to stand back up. Maybe next time I'll try without the weights to see if that helps. So I just jogged in place until she was done. That way I was still doing something and not just standing there.

I've done well since getting my hrm. I was SO close to burning 3,500 calories this week. Only missed it by 39 calories! If I knew I was that close I would have spent an extra 10 mins on the elliptical. LoL! Since I missed it last week, it's my goal again this week. That and to do at least 3 days of 2 hour work outs. According to my hrm I burn about 1000 calories in 2 hours. Depending on what I do. I've started to write down all the info from the hrm as well as make note of what I do for the work out. On some days my fat percentage of calories burned is different. One day 45% another day 30%. It will be interesting to see what I'm doing that changes the percentage.

That's cool that you have PX90. There's a lot about it on the message boards with people saying that they enjoy it. I've seen the infomercials and it seems just a bit too much for me at the moment. Is it hard to do?

Well, I've babbled enough I think. Even if we don't keep up on BBC as much as we originally planned, I'd still like to do check-ins with you. Let me know if that's cool.

    Hey you!

Long time no "talk"! I'm so sorry to hear about your grandma. :( I hope things get better for you.

I know what you mean about Barry... I love him, but I find myself totally neglecting him. At the end of the day, we just have to MOVE right??? And yes, Jillian is AWESOME. I always find that I burn more with Jillian than with Barry. Whoops. I really want to get her other DVDs. The Surrender sounds AWESOME!

Yeah I'm still doing P90X, although I've been working late this week because of deadlines and I've been so stressed that the doctor diagnosed me with exhaustion yesterday and ordered me to rest. So I haven't been working out... but I think I'm going to sneek a workout today and just not push too hard. HAHA.

So anyway, I actually switched to a low carb diet, and finally my pounds are starting to slip away. I've lost 10lbs so far. WOOHOO.

P90X is pretty awesome. Not for the newbie, but reasonable enough that you can modify if things get too tough. I find myself adding cardio on top of it though because you only get cardio 2X a week in the first month, and that's definitely not enough for me.

I like your goal of 3500 calories a week! I'm so in. Let's just aim for that no matter what we do. :) We can log in our calories here. :) I look forward to hearing from you. Let's check in every monday as usual. I'll start my calorie counting next week. :)
  • Hey girl!

Thanks! My grandma is still doing okay. But not better and not worse. At this point, I know I wouldn't want to live like she is, but what can you do?

Jillian is totally awesome! I have to say I haven't done Barry with my hrm. Maybe I should do it at least once to compare. (shrug)

I have to admit I've been bad since June 1st. Not bad as in eating bad. I've done my best to watch what I eat, but I haven't logged in my food in about two weeks and haven't worked out in a week! See? Bad me. This week was just too crazy with end of month at the beginning, then it's been a bit more hectic at work and when I got home I just didn't have the energy. It's an excuse, but I'm sticking with it. LoL.

This week though, no excuses. I have to work out at least three days. I'm going to try for at least 6, but if all I can get is 3... then I'll have to be content with that. So I won't have much of a report on Monday, June 8. So I'll be sure to be much better this week (NO EXCUSES) and check in on June 15th.

My Goals for week of June 8 -14:
    - Minimum 3 workouts, but will aim for at least 6 days of workouts
    - 3 days must be at least 2 hours (or 1,000 calories burned)
    - Burned calories goal still 3,500 (minimum) for the week
    - Must start logging in food intake into diary (doesn't help if I don't do it)
    - Must drink more water

Overall Goal for (remaining) month of June:
    - Lose 4 pounds

Those seem fairly easy to do. I'll be very mad at myself if I don't reach them. Grrr. I'll check in with you on the 15th! Good luck!
