They're like cheese danishes!
*you can decrease the calories even more if you use a sugar substitute**
Also, don't be scared by the calorie count in parenthesis--that's just to count it all out before you divide by 24!
Serving size: 1 square. Servings per batch: 24 Calories per serving: 110 (108.8)
INGREDIENTS:
2 cans of crescent rolls (1760 calories)
1/4 cup of sugar (147 calories)**you can eliminate these calories by using a sugar substitute if you'd like
1/4 cup of butter (i used Blue Bonnet Light) (140 calories)
1 package (8 oz.) Neufchatel 1/3 Less fat cream cheese (560 calories)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract (6 calories)
(Total Calories: 2613--divided by 24= 108.8 calories)
DIRECTIONS:
-Preheat oven to 350 degrees
-Spray an 11 x 8 1/2 cake pan (or whatever size is below 13 x 9 1/2...I don't know the measurement I just know it by eye lol) with nonstick spray
-Lay out one can of crescent rolls in the pan so it lays flat in a sheet. (It's ok if they disconnect a little bit)
- Soften cream cheese then mix with ***3/4 of the 1/4 cup of sugar*** and the vanilla extract
-Spread the mix on the laid out crescent roll
- lay the second can of crescent rolls on top of the mix.
- melt 1/4 cup of butter and brush or pour on top
-lightly sprinkle the remaining sugar on the top of the butter.
-add some cinnamon if you'd like
-bake for 15-20 minutes then cut into 24 pieces (i did 4 x 6) and enjoy!
**i do realize that the macros of this probably aren't too healthy, but it's a delicious low calorie sweet treat! it's rich so i'm not tempted to eat the whole pan which is nice too!
