Need some suggestions!

I am new to MFP and I have never counted calories or even tried dieting/limiting food intake. Counting calories is completely foreign to me. I am allowed approx. 1400 calories, but I am having a hard time fulfilling those calories, without going over on my fat and protein. I don't seem to have a problem coming in under my carbs. Does anyone have any suggestions on healthy food that has high calories but low fat and protein. Or has a healthy balance of the three so I can eat more of it. Does this make sense? I hope so, thanks in advance. I have read on here that eating less than 1200 a day isn't healthy, so I'd like to do what works...

It is fine to go over on your protein. It is set low here and I raised mine. I would watch the fat as much as possible. Please feel free to add me and look at my diary.

I know, I know, everyone hates to hear it, but try to avoid processed foods. If you love to eat meat, try chicken instead of beef or pork and fill half of your lunch and dinner plates with veggies.

I tend to be way under fat... feel free to look at my diary for inspiration!
Don't worry about protein, your body will dispose of what it doesn't need.
Welcome, by the way :D You're going to love it here!
Feel free to message me if you have any questions at all!

It is hard to tell where you are going wrong (if anywhere) without seeing a sample of your diet.

Kelly is right that it is okay to go over some of your macros (protein/ carbs/ fat) as long as you stay within your daily recommended calorie intake especially since MFP has odd macro ratios. If you want to adjust it to better suit your diet you can go to the "goals" link under the my home tab and click on the change goals button.

The most import thing to remember, especially for people new to counting calories, is that key to losing weight is burning more calories than you consume. As you become more accustom to counting calories you can work on fitting your diet to your macro ratios.

I will make my diary open, I didn't realize not everyone could see it! Thank you for all of the advice and input. I am loving it here so far and have read so many great tips. My problem is even though I am coming in under I don't feel hungry but feel like I should be eating more. I think I need to eat more vegetables for sure! That's good to know about the protein.
