    And so he did her bidding while she lit the candle and settled down in a cozy chair.

    "Read us a story, good Gretel dear." Hansel said with a half-sigh and groan as he lowered himself to the footstool in front of the fire.

    "Happy I am to read aloud so long as I'm off me poor feet!," Gretel chuckled and began to read,
