i LOVE the program! i'm in the 12th week of it and have had great success thus far. It is really reasonable (only takes <3 hours a week) and is all about working smarter not harder.
  • awesome! thanks so much for the advice! anyone else have anything to say about it?

Lots of MFPers are following the program The thread has rolled over twice. Here's the latest:

    http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/372438-new-rules-of-lifting-for-women-group-part-2

The first 2 threads provide a lot of good information if you want to browse them when you have time.

I'm thinking about buying it too, but some of the negative reviews on Amazon have me a little reluctant.

Most of the complaints are that it requires a non-busy gym to do a routine as you have to switch quickly and often between equipment and exercises.

Any thoughts from someone who uses or has tried the routines from the book?

To follow the book exactly as written you definitely need a gym membership. All of the equipment needed is not found in home gyms. There are always non-peak times at the gym. But if you can't go during non-peak hours, like me, I can still follow the program. It just takes planning. Besides, most people at gyms follow proper etiquette and don't hog the equipment. And when something is in use when I need it, I simply wait or ask the person if I could squeeze in a set when they are in their resting period. You can bang out a set of 6-10 reps in very short time.

I'm in Phase 3 of the program and love it!! I've the strongest I've ever been. But the on thing that I will caution you about is that if follow the book's nutritional guidelines you will be eating A LOT of calories. Of course the intention is that these will be healthy, clean calories but it is difficult for some people to wrap their head around eating that many calories (myself included).
