So yesterday, my therapist told me about this site! I'm going to give it a shot! My goal is to loose 130lbs. I've tried Lindora and I lost a lot of weight but I couldn't keep it up. I also did Jenny Craig and that wasn't so successful either. I recently signed up for Jenny Craig again but the frozen food just burnt me out. I'm really excited to try this! I also have a new gym membership and one of the amazing features of the membership is that my boyfriend & I can go to these amazing salt water pools and swim laps. I've also taken a Zumba class and I'm going to set up a personal training session (I get a free one every 6 months), to figure out a good regiment to work out to. My goal is to exercise at least three times a week, but I am currently in nursing school so my schedule is crazy busy! Does anyone have any recommendations to make this weight loss journey enjoyable and successful?

Congrats on taking a hold of your life!! The only advice I can give, that had helped me, is to not look at it like a diet. Don't restrict yourself from certain things, just be sure to pay attention to serving sizes and you can still enjoy your favorite foods. I also have a problem with stress eating and self control. Because of this, I've learned 2 little mantras I repeat to myself when I need them- 1- "If hunger is not the problem, I cannot solve it with food" and 2- "Self control? That thing you want to do that will keep you fat? Don't"... good luck in your journey and remember it won't happen overnight, but with determination and dedication it will happen. Oh, and you will have off days, etc but don't let them get you down. Just take it one meal/decision/day at a time and you'll be fine :)

  • Good for you for starting to get active!

    My best tips:
everything in moderation. if it fits into your calorie goal then enjoy it :]
dont burn yourself out on exercise
don't get too hung up on the scale
    make a lifestyle change :]

Welcome a board, make me your friend ....
  • I can feel your pain!!! lol........this is also my first day and it is overwhelming to look at how much I need to lose. At least 100 pounds. I always say that it has to get in my mind to get started, but I've waited for it to get in my mind for a long time now. My sister is on MFP and she swears this has helped her. Anyway, I am getting ready to go to Curves for the first time since March this year. I guess they didn't miss me.....lol.......at least they never sent out the Curves police to find me and drag me back. Try not to look at the total amount of weight that you need to lose. Set a short-term goal of a certain amount of weight. I think we just get too overwhelmed when we look at the full picture......let's do this!! Let me know how you are doing........Good luck to you.
  • Out of interest which diet are you following or are you just counting calories on here?

Good luck, Ive only started myself today on this site but in the past I have found weight loss is most enjoyable when you celebrate your goals, the gym you have access to sounds amazing so try and get into the routine and you may find you get a high from working out.

It worked for me in the past and made it so that I thought before I ate, is that cake worth the amount of workout time I have put in?

Another thing I have always found useful is to find good tasty alternatives for your favorite things, it can take a bit of research but its worth doing so you dont feel like your missing out.

Its a long journey and there is always the risk of doubling back on yourself (like me!) so this time I figure its a life long commitment to being healthy.

    Best wishes
