Best HRM for the $$$

I don't have much extra money to spend, but I'd love to buy one. Can anyone give me some insight on which ones on the cheaper end of the scale are actually worth it? I'd like something accurate that won't break after a week. Don't need anything fancy.

Polar FT4, the FT7 is better but costs a little more. check out Amazon, they usually have the best prices on these models.

check to see if it has a chest strap or if it even calculates calories burned, not just your heart rate. If it does not have a chest strap don't bother, probably not very accurate. With HRM's you get what you pay for.

I bought the Polar FT7 about a month ago for $129 Cdn. Its got all the functionality I need, it sturdy and is very easy to use.

Definitely the Polar FT4. Less expensive than the 7... got mine on amazon.com for about 80 after shipping... still pricey, but soooo worth the money! Great investment and easy to use! Comes with a chest band for ACCURATE heart rate! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I bought a Polar FT7 two months ago and couldn't be happier with it. It was the best investment I have made in a while and it has made a world of difference in how I workout.

I have never owned any other HRMs so I can't give any comparison to others, though.

    Good luck!

Sorry if this is a silly question, but is there one that calculates distance, too? I would love to be able to figure out how far I'm running without using googlemaps. Sometimes I'm inspired to change it up while I'm out there!

some Garmin ones have GPS, but these are even more expensive.

Don't waste your money on the one's at Walmart......they are complicated and not as accurate.

I have a Garmin and the GPS is great, but the HRM is horrible. It's a chest strap, but it is notoriously inaccurate (when it works). If you google it, you'll see others with the same complaint.
