Hey guys,
Does anyone out there in MFP world know roughly how many calories we burn doing 90 minutes of Bikram Yoga? Would love to know if anyone has any info!

Yep, I just put it down as regular yoga as well. I definitely dont believe that its around 1000cals as some sites say. I do love it though and I am currently doing the 30 Day Challenge, on day 9 today and feeling amazing.
Yes, if there is a Bikram Group I will most definitely join!!

I just did the calculation from http://www.everydayhealth.com/Calories-Burned-Yoga.htm
It said I burn 870 cals based on the fact that I do 90 mins and I am 58 kgs. I dont think this is true though...I WISH it was haha.
Thanks everyone!0 -
I burn 1100. My studio is 105+ degrees / 40% humidity. That gets my heart pumping. For me it is the same as a 10 mile run but much easier on the knees0

I've been posting 500 calories per class.
I've heard the teachers say there is a big range of calories burned -- depending upon how much effort you put into class.0 -
Yes ... I think we should start a group! I LOVE Bikram yoga. It is my my favorite way to exercise!
Got to attend a lecture in Scottsdale AZ a couple of weeks ago ... Bikram was in-town. I'm told it was the one and only time he's been to the Phoenix area; so i HAD to attend the lecture! He's quite a fascinating guy.0 -
I discovered the "groups" feature on MFP today. Am starting a group for those who practice Bikram Yoga. Will call the group "Bikram Yoga fanatics"0

I track Bikram as a regular yoga workout on MFP. I perhaps burn a bit more than that, but nowhere near the 1000+ calories some sites claim. My body feels like it gets more of an intense workout during yoga flow in a regular-temperature room (I can feel my muscles more after each session), but Bikram's elevated heat seems to have positive results as well.0
