Hi everyone!!
I'm a 24 year old female from Australia. I'm currently at university.
I've been using the MFP app on and off for a few months, but after a few good days I'd slip up and get discouraged and go back to my bad habits. Not this time!
While I don't have as much to lose as many others, I am classified as overweight (just - BMI of 25.5 - but regardless, it was a wake up call to change my lifestyle). I have around 10 kg to lose. I'm 158cm and 64 kg.
I am giving the low-carb lifestyle a shot. I have big problems with going nuts on carbs... And they don't keep me full. I am going to be eating mostly vegetables (I love veggies luckily!!) and protein, staying away from pre-made or processed foods.
I also add chilli powder and lemon juice to alot of my meals to add extra zing. I am also going to be taking a B-vitamin everyday. This is only me second day, but so far it's been really good, I feel full for quite a while after meals and the foods are tasty... the only real difference is I have to make a bit more of an effort to bulk meals with extra veggies to replace pasta, rice, bread or potato. Another thing I am cutting out is alcohol, which I believe is the main culprit for my weight. I am trying to make my life more positive and healthy in general and be more motivated to reach goals and achieve success in multiple areas of my life.
Anyway, it's nice to meet you all! I'm hoping to make myself more accountable by getting to know other MFP users and post on the forums. I am hoping to make some supportive friends, it doesn't matter (to me) whether we have similar goals or not!

Hello and good luck. I know where you are coming from with the alcohol, it is something I have cut out almost altogether too as it was one of the main culprits for my weight gain too. I have been using this for a few weeks now and find the logging what I eat a really useful tool.
Feel free to add me if you want.0 -

Hello! I'm Sarah, 25 from the USA. Sounds like your eating habits are a lot like mine, too many empty carbs. I'm also trying to add more veggies to my diet and use healthy seasonings, I love adding lemon, lime, cilantro, and chili powder to just about everything. If you'd like to add me as a friend so we can motivate/keep each other accountable that'd be great!0

Thanks for the replies everyone
cmf72 - I think biggest challenge is going to be alcohol at social events - I have as few coming up as it's nearing the holiday season - I'm going to have to come up with a "safety plan". I generally don't socialise much but I am trying to put myself out there a bit more... I spend most of my time with my live-in bf. How do you handle social events?
Miranda, I know what you mean, I am determined to make this work this time!! I have around 20lb to lose.
Hi Sarah! Nice to meet you I really need to cut back on salt, maybe I should try adding a few different herbs... at the moment, my staple herb is dried oregano ... I've started growing herbs in trays so when they mature I can start adding fresh herbs to my salads too.0
