I've lost my motivation and I can't get seem to get going ag

About a month ago I went on vacation for a week..... I did pretty good while on the vacation, logging my food, exercising, even riding my bicycle!! But 2 days after I came home, I unexpectedly had to have a small surgical procedure done, and so I stopped exercising.
The weather turned yucky, and rainy..... and I quit walking my 5 miles outside at the park in my neighborhood. And no, I didn't go to the gym either.....
Now the time changed (Daylight Savings), and I'm not doing ANYTHING!! Ugh!!
I even missed logging into MFP on my 199th day!! So now I am having to start over which really ticks me off!! :grumble:
The little surgical procedure that I had didn't work, and now I am looking at real surgery (anesthesia and al) on December 2. The surgery will be in my armpit/breast area, so it won't effect my walking, etc. after my initial first few days of recovery.
The good news is that in this last month I haven't gained any weight back - but obviously I'm not losing any more either...... Anyways, can you give me some suggestions on how to get my "mo-jo" back?

If you have any before and after pictures look at them. You are doing fantastic with your weight loss. Don't give up now. At least you are maintaining. I understand about the weather and time change thing for exercise. I have been doing an exercise to a dvd. I have Zumba, but that is a ton of arm movement. They do have walking dvd's. Also there is a website customabs.com which has some really difficult abdominal exercise. I can usually only do half. Indoor stuff for the winter. Also if you have a yard, yard work on the weekends is a great way to burn calories. I usually get almost 500 calories burned for just over an hour. Good luck on getting motivated again!0

All I can say is "Look at your progress thus far" Get a picture of yourself from before the weight loss and one from now and put them side by side on your refrigerator. And on the missing your 199th day, that would really upset me also. Can you not maybe contact MFP and see if they can fix it for you. I think I read somewhere that this may be possible. It may not be true, but I sure would contact Tech support and see if it is possible. And good luck with your health situation. I hope you end up not needing the surgery, or if you do need it, I hope it gets you well.0

Write out your goals and why you want to lose weight. Does your "why" motivate you? If not maybe you need to really think about it. How bad do you want this? Plan it out on the calendar, pick a day to start and no matter what start back up, once you start you will probably remember how good it makes you feel.
Find a friend or friends who will support and encourage you!

First of all, congrats on your initial weight loss! It's not an easy job as I've learned in my 1st 45 days here
Now, how you approach this topic is how you will hold your attitude towards the situation. If it were me, I'd take missing the 199 day check in as a sign to start a clean slate. Some would take it as a sign to be done with this. I guess it all depends on how happy you are with your original results and progress. IF you think you're done losing, then I would concentrate on maintaining because it's very easy for the weight to sneak back up on you. IF you are not satisfied and think you could improve, I'd say to lose what you can before your surgery so you can have a few days recovery time afterwards. Keep in mind that about 48 hours after anesthesia is basically taking in clear liquid foods & soft solids and there's not much nutritional value in that. You may gain a pound or two back. Then take it slow.
Life happens. It's how we adapt and cope with things that determines our quality of life. I think if you had the perseverance and dedication to lose the first 40 lbs, you can find your dedication to yourself to meet the rest of your goals. Good luck!0 -
Don't look at this as a setback or a failure. I'm convinced that believing you're failing is the number one cause of failing.
It's a little detour. And that's just fine to take a break from it every now and then. You haven't gained and that's fantastic... it shows that you're learning proper portion control and you WILL be able to maintain your weight.
I agree with Puddykat on the "clean slate." The first 200 days was your Food and Exercise Plan 1.0. Now you're on version 2.0.0 -

Just hang in there and do what you know to do, whether you "feel" motivated or not.
I began back in January, lost 19 pounds, then found out I had some issues with my eye. After going through tons of doctor visits and a couple of painful procedures, I just lost all motivation and quit trying.
I gained 10 pounds between March and June.
June, I decided to try this again, and although I've done fairly well since then, I think of all the wasted time between March and June, as well as the 10 pounds I had to re-lose. It feels great to see the -45 pounds, but it really sucks to know that it was between January and November. It could have been -50 or -60 or more had I not quit trying those three months.
So hang in there, and think about where you want to be in a few months, and let that be the motivation you need.0 -
Hiya! I think this is just a bump in the road. The fact you are still here, still on the boards, still logging and still reaching out, speaks VOLUMES! In all our journeys, there are ups, there are downs. Disappointments come (like missing your 199th day) but believe me, they GO too! And opportunities come. Wow do they ever! My only advice is, while you are in this period, seeking answers, slowing down a bit, looking, questioning, seeking, maybe take the time to just stop everything and just breathe. Do what you can to turn off any and all "noise" in your life, and listen only to the sounds of your breathing. This is your life, this is your body. Love it like a mom loves her baby, love it like a dad loves his son or daughter. Be a nurturing "parent" to yourself! Give yourself not what you really WANT, but what you NEED. Make it just one thing for the day, the hour or the minute. What do you need that minute? Keep it simple, keep it honest, no complexity. You may need to find a quiet room to do this in, or maybe some other secluded spot, with absolutely no distractions at all. You may need to take several tries at doing it. But my hunch is you will figure out what you need to be back on track to a long, wonderful, healthy life. You will give yourself what you need to do that one little thing at a time, and start building on it. And soon, you will once again be traveling at the speed of light down that road of good living, confident that you have made the right decisions, enjoying whatever comes!
