I'm Back

My name is Jen, I'm 20 years old and over 200lbs
I did this over the summer and lost 11 lbs.
Then I went back to school, got busy, struggled under depression and work and -- well, I'm afraid to look at the scale. I walked up 1 flight of stairs today and the tops of my thighs burned a little -- I'm so embarrassed I don't even want to look at my scale. I am so incredibly disappointed in myself.
I just want to get back into this -- I think my problem is I start off with a lot of enthusiasm -- and then that wears off and i stop. I always start strong, and then I miss one work out and it all falls apart.
I'm dating an amazing guy who is slightly overweight but aiming high for his fitness journey. He wants to be able to run a marathon by next summer. I don't care about marathons but, I'd love to be a runner or an athlete. I love sports and I've always been too ashamed to go out for them.
I've been watching the Biggest Loser and I know it's silly but -- I'm inspired. Inspired but feeling hopeless.

chin up! dig in and stay the course. you're worth it and you can do it. one day off the wagon is small potatos, so long as you jump back on the wagon, and it sounds like that's just what you're doing. best of luck to you! :flowerforyou:0

You can do this!!!
Make small changes - walk around campus more, choose water at meals, instead of soda!!
Work out with the new beau, having someone to help inspire is great!!!!0 -
Weight loss is a marathon not a sprint! If you miss a work out, just make up for it the next day! The only person that can make you better is you! If you want to be a runner, then start running. They have great programs for beginning runners ( couch25K) that will get you on the right track and feeling great.
Know that you are worth it, and the first step was coming back here and posting about your struggles. Take the support that this community gives and make this day 1 of a new you. It can only get better from here!
Good Luck!0 -
Best Wishes to you, Jen.
When I began this journey, I realized the food factor was my biggest challenge, not the activity part.
So I focused SOLELY on getting THAT under control,
logging EVERYTHING ( sigh...even binges....needed to be honest w/ myself)
and exercising self-control in that area FIRST....which- to my surprise- started shedding the pounds all by itself...
I weighed/measured every morsel, I counted out servings and put the snack bags away,
and when I was done for the day, I logged out and went to bed ( late night snacking always gets me, so that helped)
Once I shed 30 pounds, I had A LOT more energy, and just started walking more- even chance I could get....
I may eventually join a gym and tone up, but my life is super busy too- and I just don't have the time to do it right now.
So, I guess what I'm saying is this:
Perhaps you might consider just focusing on the food aspect- making healthier choices and keeping track of what you're eating-
since you stated it's your lifestyle that gets in the way- you sound like you're an active gal as it is....
If you're seeking friends for the journey to cheer you on, feel free to add me...I'll be happy to root for you~0 -
i think most of us have felt despair but it's a life journey. pick urself up & dust urself off and just do one day at a time. i've logged for 30 days straight & haven't lost but 10#s. kinda discouraging if i ponder that number. yet every morning, i drink my water & log it, walk & log it, get to work & eat my breakfast & log it...& so forth. i just have to make a conscious effort to do now & leave the past behind. i've lost & gained the same weight over 51 years! but once again, i have my eye on the prize of making healthier choices & let the weight fall off because of it. you can do this!!! this is a marvelous tool & there is a great support system here. take care & best to you on ur journey0
