I'm starting my workout today and I have NO idea what exactly qualifies as a cardio workout (I've just followed DVDs or the charts that come with either an exercise ball, ankle weights, etc). I'd like to find about 30 mins worth of cardio. Please please PLEASE help!!! Thanks soooo much to any replies, I appreciate it tremendously!!

What sorts of equipment do you have available? Are you a gym member? Or do you workout at home?

I good cardio workout to start with is the C25K program, gets you running and you don't need to belong to a gym.

Try looking up your DVD on collagevideo.com - this website is a great tool. There is a little chart on there giving the time, workout type (cardio/toning/stretch) the impact level, choreography level, etc .... lots of info

Walking, running, dancing, jumping jacks .... anything that raises your heart rate (weight lifting can qualify) is considered cardio.

Exercisetv.tv.com has lots of free videos ..... select the aerobic category to find one you like

If you have a set of stairs at your house, run stairs! Or walk up and down them fast - getting more advanced, skip a step - march up and down on a step at a time (like step aerobics) do jumping jacks at the bottom......KILLER BURN!

exercisetv.tv has some nice cardio workouts! I usually do Kendall Hogan's slimdown or bootcamp cardio, both 30 min long.

I'm going to be working out at home and don't have any "gym type" equipment. It's nearly impossible for me to get to the gym also (I'm a stay-at-home mom, my husband is a cop with odd hours, and so far have not been able to locate any babysitters). About all I have here (besides charts and my biggest loser boot camp dvd) are weights, ankle weights, jump rope, large exercise ball, 2 small and 1 medium weighted ball and resistance bands. Ummmm, blonde moment: does the B.L. boot camp dvd count as a cardio workout? (I'm not all here today :) lol)

Do you have an iPhone? There is a great app called "Nike Trainer" that has 30- and 45- minute workouts with little to no equipment that you can do anywhere. I love it for when I'm out of town because I can just plug it and it guides me through.

I just replied this same message to someone else but my trainer just created this regime for me.

With the treadmill, I switch it up constantly. I can also put the incline to 3-5 on the lower mphs if my heart rate is not above 140.
    1 minute - 3.2 mph
    2 minutes 3.8 mph
    3 minutes 4.5 mph jogging
    1 minute 5.0 mph jogging
7 minutes total, 3 times over.

When I exercise on the elliptical, I start with a 25 resistance for 2 minutes, kick it up to 30 resistance for 2 minutes then back down to 25 for another 2 minutes and so on. I will be on the elliptical for 40 minutes a day and 21 minutes on the treadmill.

The goal on my HRM is 120-160 but I am often hovering around 145-160

    Hope this helps

Collagevideo.com lists Biggest Loser Bootcamp as "Floor Aerobics & Toning" (aerotone ..... AKA circuit workout). Yes - it qualifies as cardio. Log it as a circuit workout in MFP. If you want the number of minutes ..... look at the chart on collagevideo.com

I keep a copy of the Collagevideo chart on an index card (inside the DVD cases) .... that way each time I do a DVD I have the number of minutes for each segment.
