I like to get upbeat praise & worship songs. My workout time is my peaceful time!! I work harder and if I'm out walking, I can sing, which is REALLY good for the lungs!

I highly recommend anything by Lamb of God!

I have a playlist of just my top favorite songs from them, but just about anything works.

Start with the Faded Line, and Hourglass, Grace, In Your Words, and Nippon, then keep adding to your heart's content!

Just a couple off the top of my head:

Let's Get Loud- JLO (if you need motivation those last 5 minutes this song is awesome)
Kick Start My Heart - Motley Crew
Burn it to the Ground- Nickelback (I know I know but the song works wonders)
Cue the Rain - Queen Latifah (the beat to the song is great timing for a good steady 3.5 mph walk)
What U Waiting For - Gwen Stefani (good mental motivation)

and as weird as it may sound, Miley Cyrus's "Liberty Walk" My gym plays it often and I always want to walk on my treadmill harder.

I have really odd music tastes...

If I'm trying to really get going during cardio workouts, I like to use the "Kingdom Dance" and "Something That I Want" from the Tangled soundtrack...Dance is good for starting out at a moderate pace and forcing myself to increase speed, Something is just fast and upbeat and makes me smile.

I also like using "I Am the Doctor" from the Season 5 Doctor Who soundtrack but that's partially a visualization thing too...it's so much easier to keep up the pace by imagining that I'm running towards a distant blue box :P *nerd*

And I'll sometimes run to Battlestar Galactica or Pirates of the Caribbean tracks. They're longer, which lets me kind of tune out those thoughts of "oh my god how long have I been going at this pace for?!" and often rather badass. :D

Anything by the Dropkick Murphys, or Kamelot's faster tracks.

I basically like music that makes me smile and/or feel badass. Either one of those is conducive to my getting a good workout on the elliptical.
