how many small meals do you eat a day0

see intermittent fasting support thread0

Never done it. But good luck! It sounds like it might work in transitioning to the whole "5-6 small meals" concept.
Side-note:
I will be surprised if some people don't just read only the title, then post "zomg don't eat just once a day!" responses.0 -
You should look into intermittent fasting. I loved it and it is sort of similar. You eat all your calories in an 8-10 hour window

That is basically what I do. Results have been good and I love it.0

Guilty...but then I did read it
OP, I did that years ago but used lunch as my bigger meal; since the nutritionist I saw at the time said that was the best meal for the bigger meal. It worked for me.0 -

big ones. As long as you meet your macro targets for the day (not base MFP ones) then it doesn't really matter. For me, one meal a day is not the way because I cannot get enough calories in one meal.
What I had for dinner the other day would be pretty good for most of the lower cal people. 250g chicken, 100g bacon, konyakku noodles (can sub), onion, cabbage, sukiyaki sauce & an egg.

I fast until lunch time...I like it because I get to eat larger meals0

Check out stumptous.com. A writer there recently posted a blog about her experiences with this type of intermittent fasting. Also, I believe the leangains site previously mentioned has some nutrition suggestions. I personally don't eat this way, but I know of several people who have had great success with it. Good luck!0

I don't do the one big meal a day thing, but 2 weeks ago I started eating 10 tiny meals a day, instead of the 5 medium-sized meals I WAS eating. I eat every hour and a half, somewhere between 50-200 cals each meal. I've lost 2 pounds since doing this, and this is after a 3-month plateau. I feel much more energized and healthy since doing this.0

I do this and have usually had between 400 and 500 calories by dinner time! I simply do it so i have more calories for dinner! It's working well for me as it helps me keep within my calories goal each day - if I didn't so this, my evening meal would take me over my calories goal each day without a doubt! Or, I would have to eat something really small for dinner and would be hungry until bedtime!0

I haven't been trying to eat this way, but reading your post made me realize I usually do this naturally. I just don't have a big appetite in the mornings, the only reason I eat breakfast at all is because it prevents me from bingeing on junk later. And I barely have time to eat anything at lunch time, I usually have several small snacks throughout the day to keep me from starving. Then dinner time comes and I have so many calories left, I eat and eat and eat! Sometimes I'm able to have a larger lunch, but not often. I do try to save 150 or so calories for after dinner snacks, if I don't have any left I take the dog for an extra long walk to 'earn' the snack calories.0

thanks for all the responses guys0

I kinda do this but my big meal is Breakfast. Its usually 400-500 calories. 2 Snacks are 100-200, lunch/dinner is around 200-300. I've found that if I eat a large meal at dinner than I get bad heartburn and will wake up more frequently at night. I have a super busy schedule (I'm a graduate student and I teach so I'm go from about 6am-9pm) so making time to eat a big lunch doesn't work for me.0

bump... interested in seeing how well this works for you0

Has your overall calorie intake or macros changed? Increased activity? Simple changing the number of meals should make basically no difference.
There is no way I could consider 50cals worth of anything a meal either0 -
okay so my overall calorie intake is pretty much the same
except i eat one main meal worth a lot of calories and small snack at other times
so far i have managed to loose around 2kg and maintain a weight of 56kg without any different exercise etc as to before i started the one meal a day idea0
