I don't actually understand. People are saying you should get more excercise calories then you eat. but wouldn't that make it out as if you didnt eat? please help or is the information iv been given wrong?

    but MFP figures in your deficit kind of assuming you wont be exercising. you say you wanna lose one pound a week, it tells you how much to eat without exercising. when you DO exercise you make that deficit even bigger which can be unhealthy... youll still lose weight at first, but you can also lose muscle and your metabolism will slow down eventually. thats why (when using mfp as its designed) you need to eat your exercise calories so that you still lose weight healthily and your body functions properly.

    What you are supposed to do is burn more calories than you use. When you start MFP and set your goal, the calories it gives you are already less than you would burn in a day, so when you exercise it adds those calories on because even if you eat those you are still using more calories than you ate.

    Just to piggy bag on what oher have said, MFP adds your exercise calories if you do exercise. if you want to build lean body mass, you need to incorporate weight lifting in your exercise routine.
