Bringing down the roof?

I live in a second story apartment and I feel so bad for my downstairs neighbors because I workout every single day. There are a lot of things in dance that involve a little jump, or jumping jacks…or more and I am worried about it!
I try to do it in the morning about 9 or so, this way I have a feeling they would not be bothered by it. How do you feel I should go about this? I have not gotten any complaints yet, I am just worried to get one!
Do you live in a second story apartment?
How do you go about things like this?
Ideas!?

I think it's better for you to address it before it becomes a issue. Maybe going down stairs and ask them. That way you can change the time but don't give up your work out. I don't want to sound rude but living in a 2 story place you take the risk of dealing with a little noise0

First, you should be trying for soft landings. It's a better workout and easier on your joints if your landing soft and on your toes.
Don't know how long you have been doing it, and I have never lived in an apartment, but I'd say if you haven't gotten a complaint yet, don't sweat it.0 -
I live in a 3rd floor condo~ I was worried about making noise at first, but don't anymore... my neighbors complain about children making noise in the stairwell instead! LOL (We have 3, and underneath us is 4 more)... children are gonna make noise period. I just happen to live in a building where there are several hermit men that hate kids. Wish i had known that before we moved in:( I wouldn't worry about it if i were you... as long as your not exercising at 2am!:flowerforyou:0

It's very considerate of you to think of your neighbors. You could always going downstairs to meet your neighbors and ask them what the best time of day would be... when they are not home or something like that. Make friends with your neighbors and they will be less likely to complain. Just a thought. Good luck.0

When I was in college, my now husband would come over and we'd do the P90x series at 5 AM. Talking about being worried. However, no one complained and I had to put up with the boys downstairs playing their death metal until midnight. So, they were probably worried too. lol
Don't worry about it. If they complain, just tell them you don't have anywhere else to do it and ask if there's a specific time they won't be home so it won't bother them. Just don't freak out if you do get a complaint.
I don't complain about the girl who does aerobics upstairs because I know she needs to work out! Hopefully, your neighbors will be understanding.0 -
I agree, ask them. I work midnights so if you are jumping on the floor at 9:00 a.m. it WOULD bother me as I would be trying to sleep. Not everyone works 9-5, so just ask them and I'm sure you can work something out.0

I wouldn't wory about it, if you do get a complaint, then reasses. Do you have carpet? That right there is a sound dampener. If you think it's a problem, you might want to check out a foam mat to put on the floor before you exercise. When you live in an apartment, you know you are going to have more noise. Honestly, I think 9am is a perfectly acceptable time. If it's an hour that someone can run a vacuum, or maintenance can make noisy repairs, it's fair game for getting your exericse on!0

Thank you so much!
I was just worried because they complained about running water somewhere in the building (I don't hear it) but they don't complain about the workout LOL0 -
I would talk with my neighbor and see what would be the best time. They may be gone all day and home in the evening.0

I live on the 5th floor of my building. I do workout DVDs, sometimes even at night but have never gotten a complaint. If you haven't either then I wouldn't worry about it.0

I'm in a second floor apartment as well and I do my work out around 6-7 in the morning during the week and whenever I can find the time on the weekends. Our noise ordinance goes into effect at 10 at night so as long as I'm done before then I don't worry too much.0
