When I was younger I really hurt my back really bad, flipped over a bike cracked my collarbone on the curb and knocked a verterbra( sorry for spelling ) out of place. Since then i've always had back problems and I cant do certain things like sit ups and what not.... I really feel like if I strengthen my back it will help me with my exercising. Does anyone know anything I can do to help with that.... And maybe some beginners exercises????

Thanks

 Lollie

  • Have you tried any yoga? (I LOVE P90X yoga...it really helps with my back and hip pain.)

Just a caution: back and spine are pretty delicate areas. This is something I would ask a medical specialist, not a bunch of strangers on the Internet. People may have some good advice here, but also some screwball ideas. So I'd run any suggestions by your doctor first.

I suggest you go see a physical therapist for specific suggestions. My daughter is one and has helped me since I have had fractures in my back.

Modified yoga and pilates under the supervision of someone who knows how to take care of your injuries are great ways to strengthen and get in shape gently. But you do need expert help. I have a congenital neck injury and see a licensed chiropractor twice a week. Massage helps too. Once you know your body and it's limitations well, I think you only need to see the pros once in a while. But especially in the beginning I think you need some professional advice, either physical therapists and their cohorts or yoga/body workers who are trained in extensive therapies or a combination of both.
