i suffered panic attacks and anxiety for years, often feeling as you do know. Fortunately I sought help now I very rarely get an attack, I haven't had one in years. I can manage my stress, and while life is never perfect, it's certainly the best it's ever been (just need to lose weight now!) Please seek help, there are people out there, trained professionals that can really help. It's frightening taking that first step, but well worth it. As a first step talk to your Dr. they can then recommend someone or help in a medical way if needed. Take care.

I don't think your going to find the help you seek in the community, pick up the phone and call a support agency or check your self into a hospital if you feel that badly

Hi, Fortunately there is medication to help with these attacks. I had never in my life had either until I had a couple of strokes and a heart attack (don't worry - I am a lot older than you!). After that, I started having attacks every time I got a little stressed or had to leave my house. The first one I had was really bad and I thought I was having another heart attack. Anyway, I told the doctor about it and he put me on two medications which help a lot. I still have some attacks but the meds help so much. Get to the doctor as soon as possible!

When you get to this point, it is time to seek out professional help. You took the first step reaching out on MFP. Now get some help so you can enjoy your life again.

I moved to Philadelphia three months ago, and I had found my dream job. Right after I started it, I started getting panic attacks, so much so that I was let go because my anxiety and panic attacks prohibited me from getting to my job. Two months later I am still at step 1. I went to the emergency room - when my mom came to visit [she had to drive me but I still felt quite uneasy in the car] where they gave me a referral. I called the place I had to make an appt at but since I have no type of medical insurance, they won't help me. I have absolutely no money as I no longer work, no medical insurance, no doctor, no friends, no family here nothing. Just myself and my boyfriend. It's so very frustrating. I can no longer really leave my house as even that causes anxiety. Today I had an argument with my boyfriend over my anxiety and I busted out crying, and now I'm just sick and tired of not getting the help I need and I feel like I'm going to be 60 years old in this situation. Never going to be able to live my life the way I deserve to =(

Awww! I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. I can completely relate. Panic attacks make you feel like you are dying, and anxiety just makes life miserable. As someone who has lived it and gotten better, I want you to know you WILL get better. Now getting you there is the challenge. I'm not quite sure which direction to point you in as far as doctors. I'm sorry but them not helping you because you don't have insurance/money makes them bloodsuckers. It's unbelievable. Can you try calling other doctors in the area? Maybe you can offer to pay by credit card? Can your parents help you money wise to pay for a visit to try to get on some medications? Generic depression and anxiety meds can be really cheap (under $10). Do not take no for an answer!! Keep fighting and you will find your way through this. ((((HUGS))) It's hard for people around you to understand if they haven't been through it themselves. It's not that they don't care, they just don't get how awful it is. Add me or PM me if you need to talk.

If you call your County health department mental health services, they offer free services. I would call them and get in right away. Also, you can call these hotline numbers and talk to someone http://www.healthyplace.com/other-info/resources/mental-health-hotline-numbers-and-referral-resources/menu-id-200/

    Best of luck,
    Jen

You will not be like this forever. There is help available. Another poster mentioned calling the county department. Definitely do this ASAP. You can get assistance. Just seek out what you need to do to get this. All of the research will keep your mind occupied for a while. This is a good thing.
MFP friends are still friends, even though we are not there with you.
It won't be like this forever. Hang in there.
