I count just plain water as my eight glasses of water a day. I used to have difficulty drinking all eight glasses in the day but the past few days I've filled a two liter pitcher with water and kept it with me, refilling my glass. I've been drinking all eight glasses before dinner now!0

Ah, one of the million dollar questions... I don't count the tea or soda I drink toward my water consumption.0

If I was logging water (which I don't) I would count anything non-alcoholic for two reasons.
1. I have read countless posts on these forums about water but have yet to hear a sensible reason not to.
2. every reputible medical resource I've read says you should.0 -
When I did WW I counted all liquids. Now I only count water as water and though I drink a lot more. once I did that, weight started dropping once again.0

I count everything but coffee and alcohol. I count tea and juice, etc. as water. Definitely heard that in a lot of reputable places.0

I count herb tea as water. I think if lemon in water counts then I should be able to count water that had some mint or red raspberry leaves in it for a while as water too!
But coffee & juice? No.0 -
I drink only sugar free lemonade and i was told it counts as water bc u have to use water to make it!0

I count my tea and crystal light packets with water (and record the crystal light caloies too) because it's still water you're just adding flavor to it to make it easier to drink H2O + tea bag = tea flavored H20 in my opinion0

IF it has calories in it, DON'T count it as the water ticker! One person stated that if lemon can be added to water and counted than so can tea. YES, if it is freshly brewed and NO sugar is added...... than it has NO calories. I now for a fact that freshly brewed green tea, with nothing added, has no calories. Hope this helps.0

I count my tea and crystal light packets with water (and record the crystal light caloies too) because it's still water you're just adding flavor to it to make it easier to drink H2O + tea bag = tea flavored H20 in my opinion

You need the equivalent of 8 cups of water a day on average, from any source. These sources can be pure water/tea/coffee/juice/soda/milk/fruit/veg etc. It does NOT have to be pure neat water! It really doesn't matter if you "count" it or not. Your body will still get hydration from it regardless. All you will end up doing it drink more than you need to, and having extra trips to the bathroom for no reason.

As for coffee being a diuretic, so many people just spout that word as a reason, without actually understanding what "diuretic" means.

Neat water is also a diuretic. The diuretic effect of caffeine is far, far outweighed by the actual water in the tea/coffee. Also, regular consumers of caffeinated beverages will build up a tolerance to said effect, eventually reaching the point where caffeinated drinks provide practically the same amount of hydration as a cup of neat water will.

Alright! MAYBE I misunderstood WHY she was asking this question! The water ticker is basically to count how much WATER you drink a day. I figure since this is a weight loss and fitness site that they want you to drink more water, not sugar and calorie filled drinks. So I drink coffee every morning but I don't log it as my 8 glasses of water............because it was COFFEE not WATER. When they say drink 8 glasses of water, they never say OR soda/tea/coffee. YES I understand what you are saying. EVERYTHING has water in it, that's a given. But the water tracker is for water counting. When I drink my coffee, I put it in my breakfast section. Honestly, I am going to end with that because it is pathetic to argue on here. We are here to help eachother not to belittle eachother. :flowerforyou:0 -
To me Water is Water Only...I add all other drinks under food ... I was always taught to take my weight divide it in half and drink that in ounces of plain water a day.0

I only log water as water but I also drink some caffiene free tea and diet soda during the day. I actually use water as an incentive, like I have to drink two glasses of water if I want to get on facebook, etc. lol0
