I have cyclemeter and I have found it pretty good. I have an older iphone and if i get a text while the meter is running I need to remember to restart it.
Here is a route I did today and you can see that I did forget to restart it, and by the time I did my route looks a bit wacky. the app cost $4.99 and I use it mostly for my biking routes.

    I've used Nike+ and C25K (Couch to 5k)
Nike has a way to calibrate the burn, so I check it against the BoddyBugg.
C2kK seems ok as well, but costs about 4 bucks.
Both rely on the not-so-awesome GPS in my antique iPhone3, so that can be a problem

I use iMapmyrun. You can track with your phone and use the website as well. mapmyrun.com

I use CardioTrainer on my Galaxy SII (ie any 'droid phone most likely).

It's free and shuffle plays my music in as I walk.

It crashed once ever - when I returned home from 8mile walk, right after a phone call. By the way, that was my longest EVER walk that I tracked with my phone .... the last song playing on the approach home ? "Can you feel it" by the Jacksons lol.

I looked for another app (including iMapmyrun) but CardioTrainer does the job for me.

PS, before using any app for this, I'd use Google Maps and enter start and end points near my house and just 'drew' the route I took. I knew how long I took by the time on my phone so I could work out pace as well.
