So today during school, I was passing out the papers the PE teacher sends home with the kids with their fitness testing results on it.

As I was passing them out, I noticed to my astonishment that I've lost more weight than some of my students weigh....

Holy crapola!!! I thought to myself, I LOST A FIRST GRADER!!!!!

So now whenever I get bummed about the scale not moving, I just need to try really hard to remember that!

    Congrats thats awesome!!

Along those same lines I weighed my baby who just turned a year old (she doesn't weigh as much as the dr's would like but I think she's just fine) and she weighs as much as I've lost...so I've essentially lost my baby

    YEAH BUDDY!
I love coming up with random ways to compare weight loss like that. =D I work in retail with pets and so lifting bags of dog food that are 5,15,30lbs, also cat litter that can rule in at 45lbs too. So far I've lost almost two small bags of dog food!

For a laugh yesterday I held up a bag of dog food against my stomach to compare. :P

That's fantastic! There was a thread on MiniMins about comparative weight loss, I'll try and find it!

    5 pounds = a Chihuahua
    6 pounds = a human skin
7.5 pounds = an average newborn
    8 pounds = a human head
10 pounds= chemical additives an American consumes each year
11 pounds = an average housecat
    12 pounds = a Bald Eagle
    15 pounds = 10 dozen large eggs
    16 pounds = a sperm whale's brain
20 pounds = an automobile tire

30 pounds = amount of cheese an average American eats in a year
    33 pounds = a cinder block
    36 pounds = a mid-size microwave
40 pounds = a 5-gallon bottle of water or an average human leg

66 pounds = fats and oils an average American eats in a year
70 pounds = an Irish Setter
    77 pounds = a gold brick
80 pounds = the Worlds Largest Ball of Tape
    90 pounds = a newborn calf
    100 pounds = a 2 month old horse
111 pounds = red meat an average American eats in a year
117 pounds = an average fashion model (and shes 5'11")
118 pounds = the complete Encyclopedia Britannica
120 pounds = amount of trash you throw away in a month
    130 pounds = a newborn giraffe
138 pounds = potatoes an average American eats in a year
140 pounds = refined sugar an average American eats in a year
144 pounds = an average adult woman (and shes 5'4½")
150 pounds = the complete Oxford English Dictionary

    71 lbs Great Job!

Is that what an average 1st grader weighs?...haha...My daughter's in 1st & weighs 40lbs- she's pretty skinny though. I guess I never realized how much smaller she was

my should be first grader, weighs 35lbs. I've lost 1.5 of her. (yes, I know she is small, failure to thrive plus her dad's slim genes make for a tall thin child, if her sister could only be so lucky, she will be 3 in December and weighs the same but is not nearly as tall.)

Excellent! Keep thinking of it in those terms. That must have felt pretty good to realize that. Good job.

Not all of my first graders weigh 70 pounds....I've got some that weigh more and some that weigh less, but there was a handful of them that weigh around 70 pounds

So it's kinda creepy that the brain of a sperm whale is that much lighter than an elephant's penis.

And BTW--Congratulations on your success and not on losing an actual first grader. Ha!
