Has anyone done crossfit before? I have been doing P90X, but it just takes too much time with the running, cycling and swimming i'm doing. I'm looking to tone, but something that doesn't take too long. Any suggestions would be helpful

I just did it last night for my birthday and it was SO FUN. It was very challenging though, and I train like that on a regular basis. Each class is different, but I went on a night that focuses more on aerobic conditioning. It looked like this:
Dynamic stretching (these were SO cool)
1 minute burpees w/ full push up
1 minute high lifts (deep squat with an upright row at the top)
2 min rest
Repeat 4X
1 minute power step ups (explosive lunging off of a step)
1 minute squat thrusts (deep squat with a shoulder press at the top)
2 min rest
Repeat 4X
Yoga-Sun salutation
It doesn't look like a lot of movements, but 2 straight minutes of explosive, full-body movements that change planes so drastically will get your HR much higher than running. This workout took about 36 minutes.
Lifting days are really heavy. They also incorporate multi-joint movements in circuits. "The Fight Gone Bad" involves 5 straight minutes of work stations followed by just one minute of rest.
The only bad thing is that Crossfit is really expensive. It's $10 to go once, and something like $150 for a month. But their websites have workouts of the day that you can do on your own.0 -
My stepson and his co-workers (FDNY) have done Crossfit workouts. They are very difficult. I've done P90X, and Crossfit is far more rigorous than P90X. Crossfit uses deadlifts, clean & jerk as well as kettleballs, rowing, etc... Crossfit is also quite expensive if you go to their facility. I would like to try it, but there are no facilities near me.0

G'day - I'm from Crossfit Victoria (Melbourne, Australia) and highly recommend Crossfit for getting your fitness to elite levels! It's also great for budging those last few kilo's and toning up!
Definitely challenging and *always* fun!
