Should I count this as exercise?

I moved to Japan this year, and it takes me around 30 minutes to ride my bike to school, and 30 minutes to ride home (1 hour total). When I lived in the U.S. I never needed to commute to school before...
I was wondering if this should count as exercise or not though...as it is simply my daily commute and I don't exercise otherwise (except walking around campus or shopping).
Thanks!

Absolutely!
I don't know how fast you're riding but cycling is great exercise.0 -
Definetly!! An hour a day of cycling???? You bet that counts!!0

For sure all exercise counts...your body doesn't know it is a commute it just knows you are burning calories.....0

Thanks guys ^o^ I usually go pretty fast haha...haven't killed *too many* people yet~I'll log it from now on0

definitely !! i count even the smallest things, even a 5 minute trip around the grocery store..everything counts, so a 1 hour bike ride can burn a good deal..good luck0

If you considered that when you set your activity level, then no you can't. Thats part of your work situation. If you didn't, then you get to count every single minute of it as exercise!0

You *should, but I don't.
The greater the accuracy in which you log both calories consumed and calories burned, the greater control you have over your diet.
As I said I don't, I don't log calories from lifting or from anything that's not specifically for exercise (i.e. my walk to the train and from the train to the office which is like 1.5 km each way) because I figure that balances out some of the days when I go over my calories. It is the lazier method, and I'm sure hinders my progress somewhat.0 -
Only if you are down as sedentary. If you're not a lot of your daily exercise is already calculated into the figure MFP gives you.0

def log it as 1 hour of bike cycling! When I ride my stationery bike I log that so Yah def! Go for it..its exercise, no matter what way you look at it!!0

I would0

I bike to work and back 8km every day (takes about 30min). I don't log it, but it's only because I consider it sort of an "bonus", and not logging it gives me more motivation to work out. Just like I try to walk everywhere, even my friends house and she lives 5km away from me, but I don't log that either Ofc it IS sort of an exercise, I guess it sort of depends. A lot of my friends log cleaning the house as well, so it really is very personal0

Pretty much I only log it as a workout if I have my workout gear on!0

It really depends upon what your activity level is set to. I set mine to sedentary because I work at home so I definitely log the 80 minutes of walking I do every day to take my daughter to and from school.0

definitely count it as exercise! It's just and added benefit that it's your transportation also0

Thanks again guys. I manually set my all of my stuff which is why I was wondering ^o^0

I bike to class sometimes, and I always count it. Biking is really great exercise!0
