I started counting cals, and working out at about the same time. I do quite a bit of strength traing as well as cardio. Would this slow the scale down because I am gaining muscle? If so how long should it be before I start to see the lbs drop?

that depends on many factors. when you started, age, how much you have to lose. everybodys different0

ummm well although it's not impossible to gain muscle and drop weight as a begginner, it is not common at all. You should be keeping a waist measurement. Also muscle is normally added on calorie surplus not on a deficit.0

^^ mhmm
putting on muscle is a slooow process too. You arent going to be seeing a huge increase on the scale from muscle especially if you are in a calorie deficit.
What kind of stength training are you doing? Actually adding mass requires heavy lifting and hard work0 -
It depends on what you want more.. lower numbers, or bigger muscles? You need to concentrate on one, since they are apples and oranges. I used to powerlift, and when I began to train I immediately gained 10 pounds (like the first week!) but then my weight leveled off even though my strength greatly increased. My measurements were the important thing ( and my lift numbers), I only worried about the weight on competition mornings for weigh-in. I was a lean, solid machine.. and at 5'2" and 181 pounds, I was quite a little package of steel.0
