Protein Food?

Any suggestions for healthy naturally protein-filled foods or recipes (I'm not particularly keen on buying protein powders or bars), preferably something that can be slapped together with relative ease? I routinely munch on plain roasted almonds, for instance.

I was going to suggest nutty peanut butter. It is a great source of protein but be careful to not eat too much of it. Your body only digest so much protein at a time, the waist goes to your gut and butt. Also, raw eggs blended with fruits can be a nice source also and tastes great.0

What about hard boiled eggs? You can make a bunch at a time, and keep them in the fridge for a few days.0

Egg whites are a great protein source! And even better...they are fat-free, cholesterol-free, and very low in calories! You can scramble them, make an omlet, and even scramble them in the microwave for a super-fast meal. Also, you can buy them in a carton in the refrigerated section of the grocery store and they are usually pasturized so you can add them to smoothies and such. Just make sure they are 100% liquid egg whites and nothing else.

Turkey deli meat is a good source of protein and the Triptifan helps your muscles relax after a workout.0

Seitan, which you can buy in the tofu section of stores like Whole Foods for cheap, about $3 a package. It's almost 100% protein - about 1 g carb, I think. You can heat it up with a little bit of water, or slice it on a salad, or eat it straight - it kind of tastes like chewy beef jerky0

All great suggestions--Don't forget the fage--greek yogurt--about 120 calories for a 1 cup serving--9 carbs--23 protein--delicious and nutrious!:he

egg whites, chicken, fish, turkey, even red meat- Not much about a recipe but those are the foods with plenty of protein--0

What's seitan and tempeh? For some reason I get the feeling that it's soy-based. If so, is it similar to tofu? (I like tofu :bigsmile: )0
