Weighing your food

Does anyone else weigh their food? I purchased the Biggest Loser Taylor food scale from Bed, Bath and Beyond last year. The best 20.00 I ever spent!!! :D

It's nice to see what 3 oz of deli sliced turkey or 28 grams of almonds REALLY is!

Thats the one I have. I'm obsessed with weighing EVERYTHING. Measuring cups don't really do anything for me anymore. I'm a food scale freak. haha.

Yes! I love seeing that I can eat over a cup of cheerios for about 100 calories; sometimes serving sizes are off, and that's a fantastic surprise :D

i have the same scale too! And, yeah, I measure everything...made losing so much easier faster and better. I noticed that my friends who have stalled in their losses really don't weigh their food. They just make guesses. So keep on weighing!
  • Yes I weigh everything too! I feel like I'd be cheating myself if I just guessed

When I bought a scale and discovered what a true serving of peanut butter was, I shed a tear.

I weigh everything. I find that I'm as likely to underestimate as overestimate, so it's good to be sure.

Yes, I do this all the time. I first weigh my food then log it then eat.. Yes it seems a lot of work but it is all paying off little by little.

YES Ma'am! This is one of the things I always tell people to start doing when they ask for advice. If you look at the labels of things they'll say 1 link (78g) 1/2 Cup (58g) etc. If you go by the 1 link or 1/2 cup you're most likely eating WAY MORE than a serving size. It was a pain at first, but now that we're in the groove we weigh everything all the time. I even plan to bring my scale with us when we go to my parents for Christmas!

I weigh everything. I'm cooking for one, but on the occasion I cook a "one pan" recipe with more than one serving I weigh everything as it goes into the pan and then dump the whole recipe into a bowl on the scale and divide the total weight by the servings to get proper numbers. "One cup serving" means nothing when you are cooking multiple foods in one dish where some may expand and some may shrink. I'm guaranteed "one-fourth" of the recipe if I weigh out one-fourth of the total recipe. Heh
