so i had the most outragous binge last night and consumed about 1,200 calories over my goal for the day. i was not going to record what i ate because i did not want to be disgusted by the number but figured i ate it i need to see what i consumed. i am always under my goal every day and i try to allow myself a treat day about twice a month. last night was one of those and i have not had one in a while, but i went a little crazy..... my question is when trying to build muscle you need to be eating at a surplus anyway so how damaging is this binge going to be?????

You might retain a bit of water for a while. Other than that, it will have no noticeable affects.0

Yea I tend to do small binges now that I'm bulking for the next several months I just make sure I do it on days I'm lifting so that at least the extra calories are going to partial good use. Typically I'll binge on leg or back days sometimes arms lol. Or if I feel that I have a lagging muscle group I'll bing on that day it really isn't going to be that significant.0

On the days you lift weights you should go over 400 in calories. More energy to make it through the work out. My husband and i eat 90% of out carbs before going to the gym and protein after.
And you going a little crazy is ok, don't beat your self up about it just get right back in to the swing of things.0 -
Whenever I get into lifting I binge like crazy cuz I know its the fastest way to get strong and huge.... but also fat
... I take everything I do to the extreme so I'm not gonna lift again until I'm down to my 10% bf weight cuz I know I'll ruin a clean diet just to get results fast.

What is your goal at?
But no, 1200 even over maintenance is less than a half pound. And you are wanting to bulk you should be eating 10-20% over maintenance anyway.0 -
i am set at maintance. thank you guys. i just feel horrible after eating so stupidly. i didnt even want to log what i ate because i was embarrased to have people see it but i had to hold myself accountable :frown:0

I have found that fitting foods I'm craving into my calories helps to prevent this.0 -
I don't much about weight lifting, but I too went over 1200 calories the other night after getting over a massive migraine. It really didn't show a difference in the end, other than me being disgusted with myself.0

if you're set at maintenance and "always under my goal every day", you're not bulking. you need to be in a surplus to your maintenance0 -

I know! i am trying to work myself up to it! i am terrified of getting fat and i am worried that i may not be lifting enough or reguarly enough and if i eat more i am not going to gain muscle mass0 -
I've only gained 2lbs in 4 weeks of "bulking" and I'm pretty sure that last pound was water.0

if you want to put on some muscle, you have to get over your mental hangups and not worry about any fat that may accompany the muscle gains. it's a lot harder to put on muscle then cut off the fat0 -

It sucks, but the sad truth is that if you're not gaining and fat, your not gaining any muscle either0 -
