Hey ladies I have been working out since June I have done p90x and am in the middle of Turbo Fire and I have only lost 18 lbs. I was wondering if anyone else is having a hard time losing weight and if the Birth control can be causing it or if I am doing something else wrong.

What's your diet like? Do you get enough sleep? Drink enough water? Do you eat a lot of sugar or drink a lot of things with caffiene in them? Did you gain weight after going on Mirena? I did, but it was 20lbs when I had about 70 to lose - and it hasn't been hard for me to lose it. I mean, it's been hard, but it hasn't taken that long I guess is what I mean.0

I had the Mirena for about 4 1/2 years and it didn't seem to prevent me from losing weight.0

I gained on Mirena (20ish lbs) but I am not sure that it was the cause. I really haven't had an issue with loosing so far. 2.3/lbs per week on average.0

I am getting my Mirena put in this month and I talked to the doctor and she said it is localized hormones and should not affect anything. I was specifically asking because I get major migraines with the fluctuation of hormones.0

Same here - I'm pretty sure I gained the weight I did because of the anti-depressant I was put on after that.0 -
I got Mirena back in May and immediately had a 3 month plateau after 30 coming off quick and easy. I wasn't sure if it was because the birth control or it was just my time to have a plateau but the more I read about it the more I think it was the birth control. I talked to others on it and they think it is impossible to lose weight with Mirena. I have started to slowly lose weight again but it has taken a lot longer and it seems like I have to work a lot harder as well. I'm totally fine with that though cuz losing weight slowly is better than getting pregnant again and gaining a ton of it back right.
Also, I only lost 7 lbs while doing the shred but I lost a lot of inches so maybe measuring yourself will help. I'm training for a marathon relay now so I run a lot more and do a lot more cardio recently and I think I'm going to have a nice weight loss when I step on the scale on the 15th ( I only weigh in on the 1st and 15th.)
Good luck it is possible but hard0 -
I have not noticed any gain or loss specifically related to Mirena (I've had it for about a year now). It's a pain (literally) on a pretty regular basis though . . . :-/0

I dont do refined sugar or caffeine I try my best with my diet and stay pretty careful in my calories. I am not perfect but by any means just thought I would have lost more than that in the time I have been working out. Its worth keeping it in. I think it might be slowing down because of the BC.0

I have had my Mirena since May of last year and I did not gain any weight from it. I do not think I am having a hard time loosing either.0

I do not drink any caffeine try my best to stay away from sugar etc. I do get enough sleep. And when I went on birth control I gained about 40 of the 70 lbs I want to lose.0

I opted for the Paragard instead of Mirena because it has no hormones init to mess with me. I gained weight with both pills and the depo shots.0

gained 30 pounds in 3 months AFTER I HAD IT REMOVED.
That was because I ate and drank so much0 -
Well doing P90X most people don't lose weight, they lose inches. Are you measuring yourself? Insanity is more cardio based where P90X is muscle confusion. Have you searched the P90X threads by chance? You will find much helpful info about losing inches, etc. versus weight while doing the program. I actually gained 5 lbs doing it but lost 9" overall in 70 days.
Of course the Mirena could be causing you to gain weight or not lose weight, hormones and all..but ideally it shouldn't because it is a localized drug. That said, I had horrid depression and back pain with that thing and had it taken out after suffering for six months with it.
I would look to the P90X groups for advice. I have a feeling that you should be more concentrated on measuring right now than weighing in.0 -
Oh I'm sorry I misunderstood..I though you were doing P90X and had already done the other. I would still check with the Turbofire/P90X groups and take measurements. How are your clothes fitting?
And secondly check your diet out. Are you eating enough for all the cals you burn doing those programs? I had to go up in cals.0 -
