Weight Loss After Breast Cancer

This past spring I found out I had breast cancer. Surgery took place in April (lumpectomy) and radiation followed for six weeks starting in June. I've troubles ever since. Trouble dealing with the fact that my body had been surgically altered, I felt deformed. After radiation came medication for the next five years that can make me gain weight.
Since my surgery, it was difficult to exercise. Jogging, zumba, weight training could not be accomplished. While doing the radiation, one side effect was the fatigue.
I feel so ashamed of myself right now for letting myself go. I did it once, I can do it again though.

You can do it!!! Start small so that you can have success every single day.
Always remember your success in dealing with this disease. Deformed? Heck, this is your badge of courage that tells you that you are putting cancer behind you.

I am so sorry to hear about your breast cancer....But you can not let that be the end of living.
You are truly only as beautiful as you feel. So pick yourself up and figure out what kind of exercise you can do. Make a plan and just do it. You owe it to yourself and your friends and family. If you start moving again you will start to feel better about yourself.
One other thing....how is your diet? Are you eating crap, or are you eating healthy? Make a meal plan to eat healthy and it will give you the energy to do more.
Although I do not understand what you are going through, I do understand feeling ashamed of the way I look. I have gone through those periods in my life. Those feelings wont change until YOU decide to do something about it.
I know you can do this. The hardest part is just getting started. Feel free to friend me if you need someone to help support and motivate you.0 -
My wife is a breast cancer survivor as well. She was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma. She's had bilateral mastectomy, chemo, radiation, and reconstructive surgery all before her 34th birthday. After her oncologist told her that of all her patients the ones who exercised consistently had a 30% reduction in recurences over the the ones who had radiation and chemo alone she is now an exercising machine................and a survivor of almost 4 years now!!!. Exercise your bunns off and live a long and healthy life:)0
