I recently added strength training to my routine twice a week. I have gained lbs since that; even though I am working out w cardio 4-5 times a week.
So as you could see I am a little bummed about the 3 lb gain

Don't forget...
If you are doing strength training, you will build muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. Could be that you are switching muscle for fat or it could just be your body trying to adjust. Just keep doing it and you will see positive results.0 -
your muscles hold water. drink lots of water on your strength training days. this is what happens to me. i don't do the gym the day before weigh in day.0

Muscle definately weighs more! My mom is only an inch shorter than I, and we wear the same pants when shes 40 lbs lighter I have a lot of muscle and bone :grumble: so I'll never weigh a really small number0

It's highly unlikely you gained 3 pound of fat or muscle in such a short time, it's most likely water gain.0

When you change from no exercise to exercise, or from one type of exercise (cardio) to another (cardio plus weight training), your body chemistry will change, your muscles will start holding on to different stuff (glycogen and water) and you will most likely gain weight, this is not fat, nor is it bad. Don't worry about it, it's natural, and to be expected.
It's NOT fat, nor is it muscle, you don't gain 3 lbs of muscle in days, or even weeks (usually, unless you're using steroids).
Give it time, you'll see positive results soon enough.0 -
