i feel foolish asking this, but i am curious enough to put up with a small amount ridicule to get a correct answer.

5 weeks ago:
31 inches under the bust
26 inch waist
33 inch hips
122.0 weight

current:
32 inches under the bust
28.5 inch waist
34 inch hips
123.6 weight

i was on a fertility medication cycle that caused a tremendous weight gain and loss in a short amount of time (from hormones, not overeating).
10/12 - 122.0
10/19 - 130.9
10/26 - 124.7
11/2 - 127.5
11/9 - 123.6

did my body fat shift during that time? is the new shape from new fat? or am i still retaining water from the meds?

*please be kind in your response. i am not asking to be an annoyance or because i am stupid. it is something that is bothering me and i'd like to be educated.

I don't know. It could be either one.

I can tell you from personal experience that anything hormone-related can most definitely cause your fat to redistribute. I assume that fertility treatment likely involves hormones. I myself am on hormone therapy and it has caused a shift in my fat distribution - this is a known side effect of the treatment I am on and I was told to expect it.

Edited to add: obviously, I can't say one way or the other if *you* experienced fat redistribution - but I just wanted to let you know that it can happen. I don't know if that's a side effect of the particular medications you were on.

well i know fat can shift around; or lose in one place but not in others, etc. my mom said her bra size went up 2 cups after she lost several inches off her stomach, like the fat had shifted, and then eventually her cup size went back down.

how long have u been off the meds? medications can stay in your system for a long long time, so id just be sure to drink extra water to help try to flush them out, as well as any sodium/toxins/fat cells and go from there. also as a woman, different times of the month you naturally bloat more anyway, so id go with a 4week measurment instead of a 5 week (4weeks would put u at the same time of the month as the previous measurement, 5 weeks would put u at a different time of the month).

It doesnt look as if it has shifted, just gone up a little. I know for me that when I am retaining water I can weigh the same but my pants dont fit. You havent really changed except all your measurements are larger. I can lose five lbs but be in a whole smaller size. I dont rely on the scale a lot but on how my clothes fit and look.

I come from a society that does arranged marriages and prefers the men over women, so using hormones to change the body's shape is usual.
We have a tea I used to shift my body's proportions and it worked over 6 months.
I used to be bottom heavy and now I am a perfect hourglass.
If you want it let me know I am happy to share it. :flowerforyou:

hmm I don't really see how it has shifted. The only area that is a bit out of place is your waist (other places you gained by an inch, here it was more), but that is the measurement that is most susceptible to daily fluctuations because of food in your stomach, gas, water, etc.
When did you get off the meds?

No, it can't shift, it can only be used by the body and deposited in different places. Why it does this could be shifting. But your not going to actually get fat moving around, just be deposited in different positions.

Actually your existing fat really can "move around" without gaining or losing anything if you're on certain hormone medicines/therapies. I imagine this isn't typical, and it may not apply to the OP (probably depends on what specific medicine she is on), but it happened to me and it is an expected side-effect of the hormone therapy I am on.
