Riddle me this?
Premium UNSALTED TOPS Saltines- serving size: 5 crackers
VS
Premium HINT OF SALT Saltines- serving size: 5 crackers
ALL nutrition facts are exactly the same except for the sodium.........
Take a *WILD GUESS* which one is LOWER? Reading labels is quite an education, huh? NEVER assume.
Unsalted= 95gr.
Hint of Salt= 30 gr.
BTW, the latter is much tastier too!

Just found this with Ice Cream vs Frozen Yogurt, some Ice creams are better then the yogurt0

I read labels for *everything*! I buy items based on the nutrition info and not the brand. Discovered that of the two brands of artichoke hearts I have in the pantry one is 35 calories a serving and one is 50... for the same amount. Yep, I always read the labels. Heh0

While I do read the nutrition info I will scarifice my $$$ budget if there is not much difference. 5/10 calories or 50 cents....the $$$ always wins...then I exercise more.0

Just discovered today that most "pure vanilla extracts" contain corn syrup! REALLY? WHY! :grumble:0

It's all in the wording. The "unsalted" doesn't have salt sprinkled on top like the regular ones. The hint of salt indicates lower salt throughout. ;-)0 -
Now that's a good one. I'm a label reader too.
But do you ever wonder sometimes if the label is just plain wrong?
I have checked some label values online that I doubted and I really wonder sometimes if they just try to make their food look good.0 -

I wonder that exact same thing... i guess we'll never really know. :huh:0 -
It is amazing the difference in things on lables. Tonight I compared sugar free ice cream vs low fat ice cream and the sugar free was lower in fat and calories/. Had I just assumed I would of thought the low fat one would of been the better choice. Thats why it takes me forever to go grocery shopping because of label reading!!!!0

I have to watch sodium ( due to high b/p ). I've recently learned
that MOST of the time when an item says "reduced fat"
it is generally HIGHER in other areas ( such as sodium and/or sugar)
So, I guess it depends on what you're really needing to cut out-0 -

Yeah, that's a pretty common thing. When they reduce fat, which adds flavor, they usually replace it with salt, since it also tends to add or enhance flavor.0
