I am strictly vegetarian and don't care if you eat meat. (but I do suggest free range) Give me some 80's hair band music and some aqua net ! I love being with my family but most of all my kids, all 10 of them. Gaetz, Cloie, Araqa, Cezar, Celeste, Vanessa, Noeha, Cassandra, Shaad and Priscilla ages 20-11

Welcome and best wishes for your journey on MFP. I signed up about a year ago ,,, I think....but then never did anything. Logged back in this past weekend after a friend's son's wedding. I wore a very nice dress but felt like a stuffed sausage in it! LOL. So, I'm logging everything I eat....whether it be good or bad ... or alcoholic (not sure if that's a good or bad item). Realizing that at age 53, I need to regain control before it gets so bad that I can't get off the couch!
Feel free to keep in touch! :drinker:0 -
Hello there:
I think many woman have a negative self-image (overweight or not) and part of the blame is, at its core, emotional. It doesn't help that women are still evaluated by how they appear thanks to television ads depicting woment who are size 0 and 2. Models are unusually tall, very young, and thin to the point starvation. Not to mention what we see in print ads where women's features may be computer-doctored to the point of absurdity.
The best thing that I've done is to find a doctor who specializes in weight loss issues related to women. I finally did it and it has helped me greatly. There are programs whereby a patient can take as much as 20 pounds off within about 6 weeks with a supplemental dietary foods. See if a specialist is around your area, get with a nutritionist, and keep myfitnesspal a priority. If nothing else, this program tracks everything you eat, how much water you're taking in, and all exercise activites and no one sees it but you. (unless you go public) Also, you might include going to an OA meeting, regularly.
I've been, in my life, on Jenny Craig once and Weight Watchers twice - both of which were instrumental in reaching my goal weight, Except once I stop using these programs as life goes on. If nothing else, keep track of what you eat, establish portion control, and buy healthy foods that don't take you over your required daily intake. Be honest and faithful to it. You are responsible for what goes into your mouth and only you see it on line.
It's terrific that your daughter is doing this with you. You might also get a pedometer and wear it daily and walk with her. Exercise is key to assisting weight control and helping self-image. You'll feel better and begin to see progress if you exercise. I have and you can too! Be healthy and well! I'll be glad to support you. .By the way, I'm 62 years old with 2 grown children who have families including 4 grandchildren. Two boys and two girls. They're awesome.

Welcome! I am a newby myself, only 2 weeks old. You will love this site. I just reached out to find friends about 30 minutes ago, and already feel the support flowing in. Take the advice of others- log it all.... exercise and food, every bit- you will be amazed how many calories are in something you have eaten your whole life, but also be relieved at some things you have eaten too. Enjoy the ride! And we will be there all the way- Emily0
