I think I'm insane... last weekend I registered for a 10K race that takes place next Saturday.

I have barely run for over 2 months! (and typically 4 miles or less when I have) I wanted some motivation to get me moving again and thought it was a good idea at the moment

Anyway - 7 days to go, I haven't run a race (5K) since October of last year and I'm 15 pounds heavier - oh, and never in my 5 years of running have even gone farther than 6.25 miles at one time!!!!
:noway:

The goal for me is to finish in less than 75 minutes.... wonder if I"ll even come close!

Oy - what have I done!

  • I think you can do it. I'm up to 4.5 m in around 57 minutes, and that's with some intervals (30 sec) of walking, so my average pace is around a 12 minute mile. If you can maintain that, you'll meet your goal.

Just aim to finish and don't worry about the timing!

I treat running as "time away". Time to think, relax, and enjoy the solitutude. Don't worry so much about the time, or whether you can do it. You can and will do it. Just enjoy it.

Well, honestly, my first thought was, "Have ya lost your mind?!" But then again, 10K isn't THAT long. Walk/run it, listen to your body and have FUN! Good luck, you are going to need it!!:noway:
