Do any of you make your own spice mixes. I like to keep some on hand but don't like all the extra sodium. I'm especially looking for Mexican, Italian type seasonings.

You should really check out some of Penzey's spice mixes. They offer alot of salt-free ones and they are all delicious!0

all the time. I just made pasta sauce seasoning (just add to a tomato sauce, water and tomato paste) and taco seasoning this morning.
I have both dried kinds that you can keep in the pantry and just add like the ones above or I have wet ones that you make as you need or things like fajitas.
Let me know speciically what you're looking for and I can probably give you some or point you in the right direction0 -
i make my own taco seasoning -
1 Tbl chili powder
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
1/4 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp paprika
1 1/2 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp black pepper
i think last time i used 1 Tbl for 1/2 pound of ground turkey.. tossed in some water and let it simmer.
the kids and i love it, hubby sometimes adds a little salt to his but he's used to really salty foods.0 -

I would like to make some dry mixes to keep in my pantry to save time when cooking. I am used to buying packets for taco seasoning, chili seasoning. I want to make my own marinara type sauces for pasta.0
