reporting a gain?

Do you record when you gain weight--or just wait until you lose back down again to report any loss? I'm up by 2 lbs =( but I'm just kinda waiting it out before recording a new wieght. I understand that often we are up due to fluid retention, etc. (I'm pretty sure mine is an actual fat gain this time though.)
Just curious to see what you guys do...

I wait it out.
but I keep track of it on my calendar0 -
On another site, I logged my weight about once or twice a month , so sometimes I just waited till the next week to put it in. Here I'm weighing in and logging that once a week. The good thing about logging it all the time, is you get to see the fluctuations, the patterns which can help you feel okay about going up and down some times.0

i've logged a gain before. no shame, your body weight jumps up and down.0
-
I wait it out unless it lasts longer than like 2-3 days, then I usually record it...0

I wait it out for a couple of days.0

I waited for the next week to come.0

weight yourself every month- then ull find a drastic change- and ull drop loads0

I've been keeping track of my monthly gains so I log it. If it is something miniscule, like I know I didn't have enough water the day before and I had something particularily salty, I don't bother logging it because I know its probably just water weight. If its my cycle weight, I log it every couple days to keep track of how much I gain.0

I record it, but THANKFULLY MFP doesn't *loudly* announce it- like the LOSSES!! ( and for that, I am REALLY grateful-haha)
(it does subtract it from total weight loss badge posted on your profile)
but mainly I do it- first- to keep me accountable
also, it helps me better track where I took some wrong turns- or had too much salt/not enough water-0 -
If I think it's an actual fat gain, I'll record it to remind myself I need to step it up
But after last weekend, on monday I weighed in 6 lbs heavier than I did on friday and I was sure it was all water retention so I didn't record it, but if it had stayed that way for a week I was going to record it
Sure enough this morning I was back down that 6 lbs plus an extra 0.6 lbs0 -
No I don't log it but keep a note of it on my computer.0

I don't log it0

I log my weight every time I weigh myself, up or down. It helps me to get a better picture of what I should and shouldn't be eating.0

I had to eventually log a gain. I had gained five pounds and had hoped that it was a fluke so I waited it out and after a couple weeks I just had to admit this wasn't going anywhere anytime soon.0

Be sure to weigh yourself at the same time every time.
Remember that 1-3lbs is a normal fluctuation daily.
Remember that if you are in the middle of a cycle you will fluctuate even more.
So...
Weigh yourself once a month!0 -
I don't know how often you weigh yourself, but I would suggest only doing it once a month. Your weight can fluctuate so much by just a few pounds, for many reasons. Weighing yourself once a month will give you a truer idea of your actual loss or gain. Plus weighing yourself too often can cause a lot of discouragement. Weight loss doesn't reflect on the scale as quickly as we would like.0

I log my scale results every week, whether its a gain a loss or a maintain. That way I can see if there's any pattern emerging, and I can also look back over my food intake to see if theres any food item thats cropping up regularly that may be the cause. I sometimes suffer with swollen ankles, so this is helpful when checking to see if my weight gain is due to fluid retention.
I don't weigh daily - I managed to wean myself off that one, but I can't wait a month, so weekly suits me.0 -
I weigh daily, sometimes more than once ;-), but I know it goes up and down. What matters to me is that when I check the graph, the trend is downwards!! I could never wait a whole month!!0
-
I do record the gains. I like to see the graph go up and down...I want to see the fluctuations and it also helps as a reminder that you don't get to success in a straight line, one of the most powerful things I have ever learned.0
