Ahem..

So, i'm looking into getting myself a fitness pole. Yes, that's right. A pole that goes from ceiling to floor, that you dance on/climb on/do tricks on. That's right. A stripper pole. Keep in mind, I have no intentions of becoming a stripper or even using the pole in front of people, but i've been looking on youtube, and found alot of women use a pole as a staple of their fitness regimen. Pole dancing requires an incredible amount of upper body and core strength and stamina. I see it as a good way to build both of those. I know they have studios that teach fitness pole dancing, however, I live in alabama. Where most of the places around here teach line dancing or zumba. fun fun.

I've looked online and found the pole I'm going to get, The X-Pert X-Pole for my home.

Does anyone else have a pole in their home for workout purposes? or does anyone attend a class/workshop for it? If so, have you gotten good results?

    You will have a blast!!!!

I was told the X-Pole was good. A friend of mine has one and she loves it.

No judgement here but much encouragement. =)

Lots of people do this kind of workout. It's quite common. There is no need to be defensive.
  • That actually looks like a lot of fun =) good luck!

I have recently began taking a pole fit class and it is amazing, it takes lots of core and arm strength and control. I highly recommend it, not only is it a good fitness class, but it does make you feel a bit sexy and that is fun as well...I would suggest finding a class and trying it out before investing in a pole for your home, but it is a lot of fun!
  • I bet it's a blast, I am looking forward to trying it! Have fun!

Join my pole dancing group! Search for it - sorry am on my phone :)

Don't get the Starpole. Stick to x-poles or (higher quality and free standing) r-poles. I'm a pole dancer (mid-beginner) and certainly not a stripper (I'm actually asexual, and I don't see pole dance as a sexy thing, though my style would be considered sexy by others).

If you can, get some lessons. Do not pick up bad habits e.g. bad grip on the pole (wrap the thumb around), don't hunch your shoulders, don't lock your joints in most situations.
